I hope the Wisconsinites are able to see through the BS the GOP, Brad Schimel, and Elon Musk are peddling. I hope they all come out in droves to support Susan Crawford to defeat that ruffian of a candidate.

Many, many Wisconsinites are working phones, writing letters, sending postcards, going door to door...speaking with our state legislators...absolutely everything we can to help her win this race. Although the race is tight we are doing it all to ensure her victory

What kind of feedback are the phone callers and door knockers getting? Are people receptive? Concerned? Checked out?

Mixed bag...I live in the most red county of the state and while it is gradually moving toward purple, we aren't there yet. I made 60 calls over the past few days and left messages mostly encouraging them to vote. Participated in demonstrations, listening sessions, written postcards, have yard signs up...it seems like most of the folks I've talked to have their minds made up either way. Hoping we've done enough to get out the non voters.

I believe America now stands at a crossroad. Will we continue as a democracy or a Fascist state? I also feel that by the time of the 2026 midterm elections that question will have been answered. That is why I have felt for a long time now that the only way we can stop him is legally. Trump must be indicted by the courts on a number of illegal actions he has committed and he MUST be removed from office before 2026!

He may be drowning in lawsuits, but his "supreme" court has basically given him an exception to any personal responsibility - no matter how bad his actions are - with their ruling that he cannot be indicted or sued for any action he takes as president.

Trump vs. United States The Roberts Court, the Chief Judge+5 did grant civil & criminal liability in a 6-3 Opinion purportedly ONLY for 'official" acts. Not qualified at all ... damn.

I posted a strong attack on Roberts when he dropped the Opinion on the Country which lets the Orange Monster run amok in the Village & again over at Civil Discourse this afternoon.

Options are difficult: A constitutional amendment and/or another SCOTUS opinion.

I still don't understand why we allow political contributions to candidates or issues by people who don't live in the district or even the state they are pouring money into. The only people who should be contributing to the race are Wisconsin residents. It really reminds me of how the District of Columbia is treated by all the elected officials who come to Washington. It's really dismissive of allowing people their own autonomy.

I agree but in the meantime with truly bad actors controlling the narrative, I think we better band together as a country to take this destruction of democracy down...then work hard on campaign financing issues. No disrespect intended.

Billionaire Peter Thiel poured money into electing J. D. Vance as Senator in Ohio in 2022. Look at the outside money--and candidates--that came into Montana and Pennsylvania in 2024. We cannot ignore races in other states. My own state is red, and I do give to candidates here that are actually running to win, but I also donate to races in other states with candidates who need to win.

Any help you can provide would be greatly welcomed.

As Ellie mentioned in an earlier post, people are phone banking, letter/ postcard writing, door knocking, etc.

Donations, if you are able to, are also helpful.

Wisconsinite here. Very scary stuff coming from conservative talk radio especially in the far western part of state. That’s the area of the state Ron Johnson barnstormed in his last election. He was overt in his racism and disdain for the fates of his supposed constituents. And there’s lots of money being spent on yard signs and billboards. I’m worried that Musk’s interference may be enough to bring about all the nasty things the writer above predicts.

Doing everything we can in the large urban areas to offset that despicable messaging. Hoping we can turn this tide back. I do there are good people everywhere who helping to correct this disastrous direction.

While Judge Crawford will not win the red parts of the state, narrowing the size of the loss will help to her to win the election.

The courts can rule on issues, but have little recourse to enforce their rulings as to a sitting President. The Supreme court basically ruled last year that Presidents have absolute immunity for their actions while in office. That does not bode well for the next four years. Congress is the only one who can remove a sitting President and it takes two thirds of the Senate to do this after the house impeaches. This is not going to happen with our current Republican Congress, as too many are either ok with what Trump is doing, or are afraid to buck their own party. We have a pretty dire outlook at the moment and even if we take both houses in 2026, we will still have to deal with a corrupt and out of control despot who is our President. I am not sure what the fix for all of this is, other than changes to our constitution as to the equal branches of power. If we don't have a way to deal with a really corrupt government, than our democracy will not stand.

I urge many of you to show up. I also urge you to check out what Penzeys has to say about the Election in Wisconsin.

"

Where’s the Eggs? Wednesday.

Wisconsin’s April 1 Supreme Court Election is less than two weeks away. If you live here or know of someone who does, now is the time to let people know just how incredibly important this election is to not only Wisconsin, but to the entire country.

Fate has blessed us with the first-in-the-nation chance to deliver a rejection of the hate and needless cruelty Republicans have unleashed on America and the world this year.

They ran on delivering cheap eggs and promised the Project 2025 plan to dismantle our democracy is something they never would pursue. It’s two months later and: Where’s the Eggs? And more importantly, where is their promised protection for our nearly 250-year-old democracy?

They lied to our faces, and here in Wisconsin one week from this coming Tuesday we get the chance to let them know how we feel about that.

In a normal year this would be a blowout rejection for their hate and needless cruelty. But this year isn’t normal. The 11.5 election and all the hurt piled on us since still has a lot of Wisconsin voters down for the count. As cooks, it’s up to us to get as many of them back on their feet as possible as quickly as possible.

This election sets the tone for everything this year and the next will be. The stakes could not be any higher. If you are in Wisconsin please get to talking to every person around you. If you are not here but know of people here, please pick up your phone. You asking people here to vote means much more than you might imagine. Now, please! Thanks!!

And since this past weekend we’ve been handing out a Justice 4 Wisconsin Seasoning with every Wisconsin store visit or Wisconsin order shipped. By this weekend we hope to have a large enough supply across the state to give everybody here enough to share. Stay tuned.

And there are other elections across the country Tuesday, April 1 and in the weeks and months to come. As a cook, as someone who gives of yourself to care for others, especially those in need, your voice is respected. Respect is ever more rare these days. Please use yours to make a difference.

As hard as this is to embrace, it is no longer hyperbole or exaggeration to say Republicans are out to end the notion of government by the people and for the people.

We all saw the elevated box of billionaires at the inauguration. If they get their way America will be by them, for them. If they get their way every sacrifice made by every generation of Americans to bring this country to life and to keep it alive against all odds will become meaningless. And Spoiler Alert. So far they are getting their way.

What they are doing is nothing less than immoral. The work you do for others as a cook brings you moral authority. If you tell those around you they need to vote they will listen. With who you are you can tell the world that it’s wrong to take health insurance from the poor to give tax cuts to billionaires and the world will listen. You are impressive that way.

Sorry to ask more of you. I know you already have much on your plate. But it’s time to use words while words still matter or what comes next will be unspeakable.

And Where’s the Eggs? Wednesdays. It’s Day 58 of the Trump Egg Crisis (we promise to keep count for you). With Trump-era eggs being so scarce and so expensive it really is time to make the most of each egg we get.

Justice Seasoning is one of our very best egg seasonings. Just sprinkle it on towards the end of cooking or while scrambling for scrambled eggs or omelets.

If you have a favorite seasoning for eggs or way to cook eggs could you share them for our future Where’s the Eggs? Wednesdays to editor@penzeys.com? Egg substitute recipes are appreciated, too.

If you have a brief story about somewhere you shared eggs or someone you shared them with that made the experience somehow more meaningful, please pass this along as well. The life of a cook does tend to leave us with good stories to share. Thanks.

Know in advance if your suggestion is “At the Dump with a Trump” you will be shown right out. But it will only be temporary. We really are too lenient :)

But seriously, this April 1 Wisconsin State Supreme Court Election will shape the narrative of these next two years like little else. If you have a way to help, please help.

Thanks for getting that this really-really matters.

Thanks for starting conversations with others."-Penzeys
