A cat pushing a cup of water off a coffee table? More like the stunt my cat once pulled: knocking a Pyrex 4-cup glass measuring cup off a tall counter at 3 a.m. It sounded like a crystal chandelier had crashed, and every square inch of kitchen floor was covered in glass from large to infinitesimally small dangerous bits. Senator Murkowski speaking of her fear of retaliation and it causes her to check her voice is easy to relate to and must be addressed. We must believe that dissent and fissures will gain strength. We must rally one around the other but expect leadership; and truth. We must expect our leaders to lead with integrity and their wish to be on the right side of history. To quote this interview: "it takes all aspects of society, labor unions, businesses, universities, lawyers, individuals... that if we collectively insist upon the rule of law, we'll be in a much stronger position than if we allow the administration to serially go through and pick one company, one university, one law firm off at a time. So there is strength in numbers." This Administration is doing a great job in alienating Wall Street, Main Street and freedom loving people who all detest bullies.

The US population is a large, resilient organism, still tenuously tethered to the rest of the world. We now face an illness (cancer?) like no living "homegrown" has suffered. It's up to those who wish to restore what was once a healthy body politic to expel the illness and adjust our immunity to prevent reinfection. It will take all of us, including those who aren't here yet.
