I am guessing ineptness. Advertising and editorial generally (at least, in the old days) paid little attention to one another, so folks in advertising likely did not even realize it. That in-house ad was probably set up a while back - for them, it was something to fill space. But this is too funny!! Love Norm's letter!!!
Norm, thank you and Jen for standing up for your rights. I cancelled my WaPo subscription two times - first when Bezos refused to endorse Kamala ... then got sucked back in with a rock-bottom price because I missed Jen's columns so much ... again as soon as she left and y'all created the Contrarian. I love it that you're not letting them get away with this careless and disrespectful ad! Keep us posted on their response!
I formerly loved the Post but cancelled my subscription in January to join Contrarian.
Every day I still receive WP emails even though I can't read the full articles without re-subscribing at very reduced pricing. So every day I unsubscribe!!!!!
If your library gets the WaPo, you can still read it (free). (I do, for the other writers I like - and from home. But, of course, LOVE The Contrarian!! Much prefer to support it!!)
This afternoon I heard an NYT ad while listening to Ezra Klein and Fareed Zakaria about how you could pick the people you wanted to hear from, like Paul Krugman. Hello! It's been 2.5 months since Krugman was with NYT. There oughta be a law!
Oh Norm, so loved reading this, thanks! Let us know what happens please!
Perfect! You guys sure know how to fight! Love it.
Talk about chutzpah! The Washington Post is not improving their sagging reputation by pretending you still work for them.
This outrageous move is more befitting of "The Washington Parasite."
This is the way to do it. I can't help but wonder if it was intentional or ineptness...
This was also my question.

Why are we not hearing from George Conway? He was front and centre at your launch then he disappeared. Is he fighting through the courts?
Great! I can't wait for the Post's response.
Maybe Ruth Marcus will look to The Contrarian now that she, too, has jumped the WaPo ship.
Lol! I love it! Nice job appealing to their interests in personal liberties and free markets! ✌🤘😎💖
FABULOUS. You guys keep me sane.
This. Is. So. Good.
PERFECT!

Geez that is really bad of them. Good job calling it out!
This is so great!!!! Thank you for sharing!!!
