I hate to sound like a British Royal, but we believe all this gaudiness reeks of inferior breeding and a nouveau-riche over-compensation for social and intellectual inferiority.

To me, the new look screams Vegas whorehouse, not royalty. Most actual aristos try to show some taste.

Actually, I think a Vegas whorehouse would have more class. But this seems to be what he is aiming for with the type of women (and men) he's choosing as spokespeople in front of the camera. I am a woman and a feminist and I hate to judge people by appearance but I suspect there's a no-wrinkles, no ordinary build, no short hair, no oldies-need-apply policy.

Right on! I remember reading that, in his first administration, he "advised" the women who were frequently in the office that they should do their hair like Hope Hicks.

I hadn't heard about that comment. I reserve my most withering scorn for the women who work for him, who support him and who voted for him. It's such a betrayal that it breaks my heart every day.

It sickens me, I’ve always held a high regard for the Oval Office. This is a place where in times of tragedy in our country we look for our president to speak to us directly in a presidential in a calm manner. It always gave me a calming effect.

Now I think of it as being cheapened and tacky in a room full of lies! I’ve seen the president of our company belittle world leaders! This is not who we are!

Are objects in Trump World just covered with gold paint to give off the appearance of opulence? I wouldn't be surprised he shopped on Temu!!

This tawdry cheesy excess of fools gold has nothing to do with royalty and everything to do with bad taste. The stuff looks like the plaster of Paris or plastic tchotchkes one could find at a hobby store or yard sale -- with gold spray paint.

He increasingly behaves like his impression of a king, and not a constitutional one either. But in his case, he has such a childish vision of what a leader is and what projects dignity or merits respect. He’s all about the trappings, but the emperor is truly naked, his dignity nonexistent.

Thank you for validating our reactions. Contrasted with the gold decor in other countries that you showed, this is just tawdry. The first time I saw the gold curlicues on the fireplace surround in the Oval Office I was appalled. How has he been allowed to so desecrate the people's house? At least I presume the country can turn in the gold for cash after he leaves office; after all, we paid for it.
