I would like the Democratic leadership to be more vocal and forceful in their condemnation and plans to deal with this.

Bottom line, it's time to impeach president Skidmark. This Administration is completely out of control, demonstrably incompetent, and an international stain on our country's integrity and reputation. It's disgusting to see our Congressional proxies stand to the side on the stupidity that is being spewed out of the executive branch. The Republican Administration has their heads up their rears. Enough hand wringing, hold them responsible for the disaster in Washington.

If only there were a handful of Republicans who cared more about the nation than about their pet felon.

Alas, the craven cowardice of the Republicans in Congress make that a pipe dream at present.

PEPFAR, the global HIV prevention and treatment program, distributes free or reduced cost medications to treat HIV. The virus that causes HIV mutates easily, and even brief interruptions in treatment that suppresses the replication of the virus can promote mutations that lead to drug resistance. That means the drugs become less effective for everyone in the world. Of course, the administration does not care about HIV victims because they blame the victims for contracting HIV because of their supposedly immoral behavior. It should be noted that common ways HIV is contracted in Africa is to be born of an HIV-infected mother (which can be prevented if she is under treatment), or for woman to have sex with her husband.

A quick amendment to how the government spends money: after Congress passes a spending bill it must then be signed by the President. It then becomes law and spending proceeds. The time for a President to object to spending is when a bill comes to their desk, not after it is the law of the land!

I appreciate the roundup. These aren't theoretical concerns. I know people on federal contracts that are already on significant furloughs. Most individuals can't absorb this. I'm calling Congress, even the ones that agree, because they need to hear the stories of those impacted so they can take action and stop this impoundment.

China is dancing on the rooftops. Trump's foreign policy gives China a golden opportunity to fix its problematic "belt and road" foreign policy. With leads in EVs, Solar panels, and big batteries the US is uncompetitive compared to China in the world. Tariffs will only get tariffs coming back and inflation here will rise.

Why haven’t there been lawsuits yet about the “pause” in foreign aid? Devastating impacts around the world already! 2 courts have blocked the pause in domestic spending. Wouldn’t the anti-impoundment law apply to foreign aid as well?

As an outsider who lives in the EU, this situation is and sounds completely irresponsible. What are the options or mechanisms, if any, to reverse the decision to cuts federal fundings?

Bottom line: some people, in the USA and in partner countries will die or sicken because of this EO.

I hope the courts come down fast on this monstrosity, and like a ton of bricks.

Do we really expect the Supreme Court to come down against Trump? Just look at the immunity ruling. Most of the conservative justices believe in the imperial presidency so I’m not hopeful that they will help, to the contrary they may seal the coffin.

The Supreme Court didn’t want Trump in prison. That doesn’t mean that they follow every one of his brain farts.

"Little Mario" has made one of his first acts subjugation to the whims of the Orange One.

The disaster that will ultimately unfold to those on the receiving end of the puny amount we spend on foreign aid with this "short term" pause is the opportunity for China to fill the void.

Once again, the short term thinking of American foreign policy when Republicans have the purse.

I'm afraid given what's going on, with no thought really behind their actions, we are just going to be in a position of responding to whatever chaos and damage their actions take.

Things will break in some way no one will be able to predict.

But there is thought behind their actions. It's called Project 2025. If you've read it you will see that everything they're doing, every goal they have, has been outlined in detail in that document.

The problem it seems is that they must have relied on their christofascist lawyers to frame the plan and those people have spent most of their time at right wing think tanks and the right wing bubble in general rather than working in the real world of actual government and lawfare so they have little clue how to implement their Project in an efficient, 'consitituional' way. That might be one of the few things that can help us fight them.

1. Musk is doing with the government the same as the did with Twitter. Trump is a figurehead. There are 2 operations being undertaken with essentially the same end, Musk's and Vought's.

2. Removing Republican/Trump/Musk and reestablishing American democracy will take extra-legal and extra-judicial action. I hope we all see and understand this. While I appreciate a smiling Jen Rubin and Norm Eisen and their guests, reality needs to be embraced.
