Mr. Lee's comment about taking away the hamburgers from Republicans' hamburger stand sort of drove the point home for me. Really, why would there be ANY need for Republicans in congress if they didn't deliver tax cuts to their billionaire financiers? It just shows how badly BIG MONEY has seriously corrupted our politics. There needs to be major campaign finance reform. Get big money out of politics!

Wonderful conversation. Hope to have Mr. Lee back again and again.

Here's my concern from what I heard.

Mr. Lee said Ds have 2 options on these tax cuts - fight now, probably without success, or let tax cuts go through and hold in against Rs in upcoming elections.

Democrats would really, really, really disappoint me if they decide that the best option politically is to let this bill go through and use it against Rs in 2026/2028.

If Ds do that, I will suspect that Ds also have wealthy donors who want these tax cuts and that Ds will try to have it both ways - deliver the tax cuts for D wealthy donors but say, after the fact, that they oppose the tax cuts.

Ds can prove me wrong by coming out now in favor of "tax increases" - for example on taxpayers making more than $500,000 or even $1 million. And, if Ds really want me to applaud, to come out with an alternative budget that is either balanced, or not, and shows funding priorities.

In Biden's 4 years, did he talk about these tax cuts that were "sunsetting"? I really don't know. If he did, why is D messaging playing catch up?

This is administration seems to be emboldened by the lack of support and increasingly visible protests. I partake in the protests and am all for them, but I do believe their response is retribution rather than thinking about what the people want.

Jesse Lee is great. He speaks in terms that even magats should be able to understand. It's just too bad they would never consider subscribing to and reading The Contrarian.

Another thing that makes it difficult for the regular Jane and John Does: unless they surf the internet and read the small websites which still do neutral reporting or reporting without lies, they have no chance of getting the real stories in the billionaire media.

Republicans want to raise taxes on the middle class without anything to show for it. Democrats at least would have more capital going into Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security not cutting those programs like Republicans desire to do so. The idea is to tax the middle class completely out of existence. It’s past time to cut them loose. Republicans need to drop like flies.

A Congressional Kamikaze mission, exactly. This is an illuminating summary update of the budget bill’s “progress.” I especially appreciate mention of the discomfort of the GOP, particularly Thom Tillis, one of my senators.
