Why did Tim Kaine vote for 5 members of Trump’s cabinet? (rubio, duffy, collins, rollins, chavez)

Agreed! I just don't get this. Senator Kaine won his last election in 2024. So, he's safe for six years. Since that's the case, it would seem like he could have voted however he wanted to. Correct me if I'm wrong. But, he's got long COVID, so I'm not sure if he's truly okay!

Exactly. Damn you who are the weak-kneed Dems !!! Just for one example: after all these years working by his side in the Senate, were you truly unable to predict that empty suit Rubio would become such an enthusiastic fascist ? Did you hear him yesterday in the Cabinet meeting, laughing out loud at judges ??

Money is a common language that GOP understands so the tariff situation is one where some Republicans are seeing the light. I hope more and more of them realize their leader is a dangerous basket case and their Congressional careers are in danger.

Can’t believe Trump is able to get away with this… is Trump above the law, why isn’t he held accountable?

Trump dumped Project 2025 on us very quickly as they planned. They hoped to overwhelm us and instill compliance that way.

Response through the courts is slowly reversing some of this; how much we don't know yet. We just have to keep legal pressure on.

Meanwhile we have to keep on constant public pressure through any legal methods we can. Contribute, attend rallies, peaceful demonstrations, etc will all help.

Benjamin, it wasn't "very quickly." Project 2025 was published in April 2023. Democrats had plenty of time to read it, and have the appropriate agency or committee investigate it, as well as Heritage Foundation CEO, Kevin Roberts, who was the mastermind behind it, and paid $20 million to have it published.

When Trump picked JD Vance as Vice President, Democrats should have known about his association with Kevin Roberts and the Heritage Foundation, as well as Leonard Leo, and the Federalist Society. Senator Shelton Whitehouse knew, because he's an expert on dark money, and in 2022, Leo was given $1.6M from a conservative donor, and Leo was also involved with Project 2025. Roberts, Vance, and Leo were all involved with a conservative Catholic cult, Opus Dei.

Project 2025 was mentioned a lot during the Democratic Convention in August of 2024. On September 25, 2024, a DNC Rapid Response Director distributed an very damning and frightening statement about it. https://democrats.org/news/new-project-2025-architect-kevin-roberts-says-project-2025-is-the-conservative-movement-and-were-never-going-to-stop/.

When Republican and Democratic voters found out about, they hated it, and it was going to destroy Trump's campaign. So Trump lied and said he didn't know anything about, his campaign committee fired Paul Dans, who was overseeing it, and it seems as if Democrats did nothing more about it. (continued)

My final point is this: If any Democrat had read Project 2025, and studied the budget, they would have know on the first day of Trump's presidency that he was working from the Project 2025 blueprint, instead of acting so surprised. And, they still never have made the case against it in a clear way. It was/is a huge bombshell.

Why wasn't Sen. Whitehouse present for the tariffs vote yesterday ? It failed, 49-49. He would have gotten us to 50.

On tariffs: the main point is obvious out here in the cheap seats: shifting taxes from the wealthy to the not-wealthy. Trump's Tariffs, aka The Trump Tax, comprise the largest tax increase in our history. People HATE tax increases. This Trump Tax is a regressive tax, as are all sales taxes. Why can't you Dems bang on that point over and over ? The factory myth is just that. We will never have 1950s-style factories full of hundreds of unionized high-wage workers making toys and applicances. Good grief !!! Get a clue, Democratic politicians: fight with your strongest weapons, and do so clearly and simply and powerfully, with the fewest words and the deepest unscripted unpolling-tested sincerity.

Really appreciated the insight on how tariffs impede our national security with the example of Germany and their new chancellor elected on an economic mandate.

Unfortunately this is still not enough for GOP to vote against their "dear leader".
