“Trump Bill”. Can we all say “Trump Bill” Over and over again. Not the Big “xxx” bill. Need to put this directly in Trump and republicans lap.

We need to simplify and unify our messages with more Effect. Hope everyone can say Trump Bill.

Trump’s Ugly Bill would have the acronym TUB. Seems useful to me.

I like it except that TUB keeps his name from blatantly being attached to it. Instead of Obamacare, this needs to be Trumpcare or the Trump Bill so it is all attached to him. And then we can also out every last Congressperson who knowingly voted to F their constituents with Trumpcare because - despite collecting their paychecks - they are afraid to do their actual jobs. (Representing the people, not the POTUS).

We probably ought to also detail the lost jobs when these places close and the massive economic impact on families, communities, and businesses from the wicked stupidity of the Trump Bill

Except that they don’t care. Seriously, I am starting to believe that the end game here is Peter Thiel, David Saxe and Elon (all South African tech billionaires) using their puppet, JD Vance, to return us to WHITE Fiefdoms and Serfs. They see no need for humanity long term.

Excellent informative, scary interview with Bruce Siegel about how far reaching the impact of the health care cuts in this bill will actually affect everyone. It's even worse than I thought. I hope this info reaches millions of people. Thank you Jen for interviewing him.

This is exactly what I predicted on my own when I saw what was going down with this big betrayal bill that Trumplicans are lying about. Healthcare is going to get considerably more expensive and less accessible for everyone. It’s definitely a regression.

Phenomenal episode. Mr. Siegel mentioned concerns I had not thought about. As a RN in a hospital, I can easily see these things happening, as hospital management is always focused on money. I expect it's going to make being a RN even tougher than it already is, as care is denied patients because of lack of staff, services, and ultimately money. The trickledown of hospitals closing and loss of services is going to be massive, and that has been barely mentioned.

The other thing people don’t realize is that Medicare does NOT pay for long term care when we get old. Medicaid is how people go to skilled nursing facilities or assisted living when they don’t have $12k a month available to pay out of pocket. (And truly, what % of Americans have that kind of cash lying around?!)

1) Someone needs to revoke Congress’s sweet insurance deal and make them play in the same broken system we do. Until that happens nothing will change but empty words about their sympathies. They actually have no idea because they don’t navigate the insanity of American insurance in the same ways.

2) Single payor system will get a lot more fans from this!

As an APRN who has worked at huge hospital systems and now works at a 9-bed rural hospital that employs the whole town, THANK YOU for this segment.

As Bruce explains with Jen, all health care will be affected and that will mean less health care for ALL of us, courtesy of Project 2025, Trump and Republican/MAGA Congresspeople. This is very scary for many of us.

Excellent review of some of the many ways the OBBBA is breaking our already impaired healthcare system- As we fight to mitigate the harm to our people we also need to make plans that WHEN we get into power again that we have a plan to move towards universal health care. Dems should show that they will FIGHT for health care too.

Such an important discussion! These truths need to be spread wide and far

Medicare is also to be affected because of a requirement that kicks in after so much cut from Medicaid. Others have given more on this on Substack.

Actually, we do know they want to put children to work. Sarah Huckabee (Arkansas) made sure the child labor laws were changed so they could there and many red states will likely follow. There are many saying children will take the place of immigrants who harvest our food. Just one more way to destroy.

I see that I just mixed up "medicaid" and "medicare." Oh well. My question is: how will medicare be affected by all this?

This bill adds to the deficit/national debt. There is a trigger law that kicks in when the deficit/debt reaches a certain point that will cut money to Medicare. Social Security was exempted. Congress could vote to exempt Medicare but hasn’t at this point. Medicare cuts usually don’t mean tossing patients out of the system but means doctors and hospitals get paid less. Payments already are below the cost of providing care. I think fewer doctors will take new Medicare patients. Think about if your clinic may close or you want to move to a new town so will need a new doctor. This will be one more economic pressure on hospitals. Before I retire I may try to establish care in my new town while I still have my work insurance so they will probably keep me when I switch to Medicare.

Thank you, Jen and Bruce Siegel, for this critically important conversation on the looming cuts to the American healthcare system. Scary and distressing. I wish all Americans could hear it.

I'm not catching any references to Medicare. Surely there's something to be said about medicaid. That's my insurance...neither "private" nor "medicare."
