Jen Rubin joins Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) to discuss Trump’s disastrous speech, the future of America as a global power, the fate of Ukraine, and what can be done to rebuild our democracy.
Tim Walz posted yesterday he would go into districts where House Republicans aren't showing up for town hall meetings. Good opportunity for Democrats to show them we care.
Just gave a small donation to Chris Murphy - my 2 PA senators are both trump fans - Fetterman went down on trump, McCormick is a MAGA bigly. Too bad they are not representing PA - so I'm sending my small change to REAL legislators who work for US - thanks Chris Murphy! Appreciate all you are doing.
I am dismayed by the constant drumbeat about Zelensky's "need" to get the "deal" back on track. What is being urged is for him to cave under pressure to mortgage the natural resources of his nation to foreign plunder via arm-twisting, to a naked shakedown, in order to achieve continued US support. This is just plain unacceptable! Trump has already sidelined Ukraine and cannot ever be trusted as an honest broker of ANYTHING.
Really enjoyed your interview with Chris Murphy! I love his direct honesty, his courage and willingness to speak truth to power and to openly fight for our democracy. If only we had more Dems like him!
I also love your excellent interviewing skills Jen. You ask such succinct pointed questions and have absolutely excellent listening skills which actually are way too rare. You also show such genuine caring for who you are interviewing and wait with patience and genuine interest in their answer. These qualities in you really come across and I so appreciate these rare gifts that you have. Thank you.
Lilla Russell, it is a joy to read these character, dedication, and talent truths of Jen’s which you express so well. I share your appreciation of Jen and her most admirable ways, but it is you who excell in your words. Thank you!
It is hard to imagine that the particular people would listen based on what I have seen and heard. I am sorry to say that, but it is the sad truth. I hope to be proven wrong, and I realize that trying is of utmost importance. I do think Tim Walz would be excellent if people listen to him.
This disastrous campaign to "make America great" is barreling towards making America a secondary nation, not to be counted upon as a partner, not to be trusted, and not to be considered in economic and political decision making.
Chris Murphy needs to be one of the strong Democratic leaders citizens are begging for. He's not afraid to speak his mind and take a stand. He's not my state's senator but I will support him.
Heather Cox Richardson mentioned this in her message thee other night: “the Republican-dominated Senate Intelligence Committee in 2020 released an exhaustive report detailing that effort. (2016 Russian election interference)
One of the things Russian operatives believed Trump’s team had agreed to, the report said, was Russia’s annexation of the parts of eastern Ukraine it is now trying to grab through military occupation.”
Could this annexation deal be the reason for Trump’s arrogance toward Zelensky and his cuddling in Putin’s hands? That he wants to make good on his earlier promise?
This potentially unearths some of Trump’s hidden agenda. What other hidden debts does the creep have for which he will prostitute America?
Jen, thank you. Watching this video was the first time I have heard Senator Chris Murphy. Again, you have provided an interview with a possible glimmer of a path to hope, and of course a lot of work. It is my hope that Ukraine can be saved, and I believe their minerals are theirs to keep. If we needed help, would we be expected to forfeit our country’s minerals in order to receive help? Knowing the ties our current leader has to their attacker, I feel it is a devastating decision for Ukraine to make an agreement involving forfeiting anything. I remain greatly concerned for Ukraine and more places.
1. Schumer needs to step down and let Murphy take the Minority Leader Role. While Schumer's sitting there with his thumb planted firmly up his butt, Murphy is springing to action and showing leadership.
2. It saddens me to think that the U S of A, the world's oldest constitutional democracy, has degenerated so quickly to become the world's largest Banana Republic.
Senator Murphy is on the front line of the resistance and got my donation. I’m disappointed with my two California senators who, despite being opposed to Trump, don’t speak up much.
Murphy is right, we should be able to rally Dems, Independents and non-Maga Republicains against the fraud-corruption-retaliation-autocracy of Trump.
Senator Murphy is refreshingly direct. He is absolutely correct about the Republicans not standing up to this lawless President.

i am also a disappointed PA resident, just donated to Murphy. Fetterman needs to get a spine.

I agree totally! Trump has told us he’s with Russia. It couldn’t be any clearer. You can’t trust someone in a that position.
Democrats need a red states tour to discuss the issues! Our senators won't have town hall meetings!

Thank you for such a totally unexpected and kind reply to me. I do so appreciate your words.
You’re welcome, Lilla, and thanks to you!
Yes, DEMS - go into red districts and listen/speak with those constituents!
Absolutely- The moment has opened up- Take it!!!!

Might a few conscientious Republicans in Congress consider changing party in this crisis?

I do admire his directness!!!
Loving Senator Murphy's real talk. More please.

What is next in store for us?

Two comments:
