Ezra Levin's energy is in turn hugely energizing for tomorrow's day of action. I plan to spread the word about The Contrarian and give the web address to as many fellow attendees as possible.
I canceled my subscription to the Post in October after Bezos squashed the planned Harris endorsement. I had been a subscriber for over 35 years. I also no longer purchase anything on Amazon.
I wanted to cancel then but my husband hoped there would be a turnaround. When the opinions page info came out-several weeks ago- he said enough is enough
It's almost 11 a.m. EDT on April 5 and there's *still* nothing on WaPo's online front page. Since D.C. is a central hub of the HANDS OFF action, wouldn't you think they'd at least have a traffic advisory? Are they going to pretend it sprang out of nowhere?
John, that's exactly why we need to take initiative to include family and associates dissatisfied with what corporate news-ish media are unwilling to share.
Remember, when you leave your home with your protest sign (or just plan to stand)--you are not alone. With the anticipated thousands [million+?] of heroic protestors on April 5th (actually any and all days, including Women's March) here's an updated partial list of those fighting back every day [as of 4-3--25). I'm also adding courageous law firms who haven't caved. Besides upstanding lawyers (e.g. Brenna Trout Frey, and law-abiding honorable (present and former) judges (including James Boasberg, chief judge, D.C. District Ct.), here's a growing list of Profiles in Courage men, women, and advocacy groups who refuse to be cowed or kneel to the force of Trump/Musk/MAGA/Fox "News" intimidation:
I'll begin (again) with Missouri's own indomitable Jess[ica] (à la John Lewis's "get in good trouble") Piper/"The View from Rural Missouri," then, in no particular order, Francie Garber Pepper (1940-2025), Heather Cox Richardson/"Letters from an American," Joyce Vance/"Civil Discourse," Bernie Sanders, AOC, Rep. Perhaps I should add our nation's motto--and on our Great Seal--the phrase "E pluribus unum" (out of many, One ). Ii's 13 letters makes its use symbolic of the original 13 Colonies which rebelled against the rule of the Kingdom of George III . . .And now we protest together against King Donald. As my rural MO. indomitable Jess Piper always says: "Solidarity."
Due to a forecast of severe thunderstorms with lots of rain and severe possible flooding, the Little Rock , Arkansas protest has been postponed, according to the LOCAL organizer. The new date will be either Sunday, April 6 or Saturday, April 12, depending on the response the organizer will receive.
Thank you. At the moment, I am getting conflicting information. The national organization keeps saying the event is still on for tomorrow, but the local organizers have not announced anything other than the event in Little Rock is postponed.
I sure hope they get it straightened out by tomorrow morning. Has anyone else heard anything new?
I’m sorry not to recall where I heard it or which place it was, and that will not help you. What I heard was that some place was postponing the Saturday event until Sunday the 6th due to the weather. Is that something you can check out? I hope you can get the needed information and that all goes smoothly for everyone.
Thank you for your post. Just this very minute I received a new email from the local organizer of the Little Rock "Hands Off" action. Here is what it says:
"The “Hands Off” protest in Little Rock has been RESCHEDULED for next Saturday, April 12 from 12pm-2pm at The Capitol. We will be joining forces with Cynthia Hill, who is the original organizer of this protest.
If you registered for the April 5 “Hands Off” event through Mobilize, then you should be automatically registered for the April 12 event, as well."
Hope this helps all who live around Little Rock and who want to join.
Arkansas Blue, thank you so much for sharing the facts! I hope te event will be especially fine, and your correct information probably will be especially helpful! Best wishes to everyone!
By the way, it's a good thing this event in Little Rock has been postponed. I think we're going on 24 hours straight of lightening, thunder and rain straight. Sometimes it lets up a little bit and then it gets really strong again, with pouring rain coming in horizontally.
Shout out for Sacramento, California!! We will be strong. My husband was part of the Free Speech movement in Berkeley, and we both protested the Vietnam War. I can't believe it's time to go back to the barricades!
Indivisible was instrumental in raising awareness to save the Affordable Care Act. Now we can join Indivisible and other organizations at April 5th Hands Off demonstrations. Check out HandsOff2025.com and Indisible.org for a demonstration near you. And info on events in days to come.
The Contrarian, Indivisible, Marc Elias - Democracy Docket, The Bulwark and many other media and civil society groups are what is going help redeem our country.
Frustrating not to be able to find an Indivisible/Move On/WFP etc. national media strategy to capture "a surprising number of people in a surprising number of places." How will Trump, Musk, Congress, the rest of the country find out about the protests?
They are tuned in to Meidas Touch and MT will be carrying it. And, I'll bet PBS and maybe MSNBC too. It's going to be so big, it just about takes my breath away. 😀
“The Federalists tried to impose order with the Alien Acts, which authorized government officials to deport foreigners without testimony or trial. They also passed a sedition law that established prison sentences for newspaper editors who dared to impugn the government. The blundering legislation, meant to hush political debate, had exactly the opposite effect. The laws became major issues in the boisterous election of 1800. For the next sixty years, the Democrats continued to stand up for immigrants and mocked their rivals for clinging to the spirit of the Alien and Sedition Acts … long after the laws – and the Federalists – had vanished into history.”
Ezra Levin's energy is in turn hugely energizing for tomorrow's day of action. I plan to spread the word about The Contrarian and give the web address to as many fellow attendees as possible.
Search Washington Post and WTOP for info about Hands Off or April 5 gets NOTHING.
THIS IS BEING SUPPRESSED!
I expect exactly that from the Post- we cancelled after 41 years of our joint subscription and quite a few years separately
I cancelled, too. After decades. And actually delivered the papers in Falls Church in the 1960s.
I did, too. And actually delivered the Washington Post papers in Fall Church, in the middle 60s.

If asked, they will pass it off as a fever- induced hallucination. Nothing to see here, move along.
John, that's exactly why we need to take initiative to include family and associates dissatisfied with what corporate news-ish media are unwilling to share.
The revolution will not be televised.
It is on WTOP. But nothing on WaPo.
WTOP has cookies with the options to Accept or Manage. Reject was not an option.
I saw mentions from WTOP and WaPo at 5 pm yesterday.

THANK YOU FOR THIS WONDERFUL LIST.
You're welcome. Forward together as One in Solitarity.
You can add Rep Anne Allen Westbrook (GA House District 163). Also Anand Gan in NYC.
Thanks for reading entire list. Yes, will add both>
I will be at a “hands-off” peaceful protest with my hubby, wearing my hands-off t-shirt and standing up for democracy.

We will be in DALLAS!
Ezra, I'm 78 and lived in DC in the early 70s. My go-to spots were the Cellar Door & Clyde's. Those were the days:)
Manchester Michigan and Adrian Michigan
Shout out for Sacramento, California!! We will be strong. My husband was part of the Free Speech movement in Berkeley, and we both protested the Vietnam War. I can't believe it's time to go back to the barricades!
Such great energy and inspiration! Ready to GO!
I’m so proud of all of you.

I will be at a local Hands Off demonstration! My third demonstration in the past two months. Will be attending more.
I’m going to spend April 5 writing a blog post about the need for national action on parental leave policies.

I am going to the Morristown, NJ peaceful protest with a local Indivisible group. #HandsOff hats off to the resistance!
Thank you for your leadership, Ezra! We're with you!
