I have a question for Jen and any of the other lawyers that are on the Contrarian. At what point does the incompetence and lack of knowledge of how the constitution works and how the roles are defined disqualify a lawyer from practicing law? I know they can be disbarred, but that seems pretty rare. Usually, in professions I've been associated with - there's a pretty low tolerance for incompetence and outright malpractice.
Thanks The Contrarian for this informative, almost scholarly interview that puts in perspective how Ed Martin violates the prestigious office of US Attorney for DC.
As is so often the case, I learn how much I didn't know - for example that the US Attorney for DC also serves as a local District Attorney.
Many thanks to the efforts of Attorneys Work and Toomey and their colleagues for fighting this good fight.
Recall that facts are forbidden in the current regime.
And Agent Orange with his handlers have the goal of destroying every institution they can. That's a stated feature. So saying that appointing another madman to be the US Attorney for DC will destroy that office is exactly what they want to hear.
That’s Trumps speed, to pick a political operative to serve as assistant U.S. Attorney for D.C.. Thank goodness the signatories had the gumption to write this open letter. I hope they are successful in their efforts to put a kibosh on this nomination.
I read the letter. Last year, Martin praised Timothy Hale-Cusanelli, who ... would show up to work at a naval weapons station with a “Hitler mustache” and tell coworkers that “Hitler should have finished the job.” Every argument in the letter against Martin's confirmation is exactly why the Republicans will confirm him. He's clearly a NAZI sympathizer, if not a NAZI himself. Willing to destroy Constitutional checks and balances and weaponize the justice system, he's perfect for the job.
