Indeed it was a shameful vote at the UN for the U.S. to go against Ukraine. Trump is a disgusting lowlife.

Our republic has turned from a government by the people for the people to a government by the rich for the rich. God help us all!

Great conversation with Rep. Ritchie Torres; I really appreciate Jen Rubin's interview skills in all these clips. So important to emphasize the scale of the impact of cutting Medicaid--on those who need long term care and their families, on jobs as well. Good for Torres calling the Trump cult of personality what it is. And good for calling out "America First" as "America Last"--Russia, China, Iran, North Korea first.

Representative Torres is very clear about what Donald Trump is. He clearly describes the Republicans who enable this deranged leader. He clearly describes the devastation of the tax cuts. I think the really obscene thing about these cuts is that the bill also includes tax cuts for high income earners. If you're really trying to save money and cut the deficit, in what universe do you provide tax breaks????

Congressman Torres is certainly a terrific advocate for Medicaid recipients. After his interview with Jen, I spent hours reading about Medicaid, because I couldn't understand why Republicans would want to punish their constituents, many of whom are on Medicaid.

I focused on Speaker Mike Johnson, who put the budget bill together and worked with Trump to pressure Republicans who were on the fence, to support it. The way I see it, this bill does nothing for Louisianans. And, I wondered how the state of Louisiana, which he represents, is doing.

According to US News and World Report, which ranks states, from 2017 to 2024, Louisiana has ranked last. They are at the bottom on almost every category, whether it's healthcare, crime, education, economy, fiscal stability, or opportunity. And, for two consecutive years, according to the Current, a nonprofit news organization serving Lafayette and Southern Louisiana, Louisiana was one of the most unhealthy states in the nation.

"A high premature death rate, high levels of economic hardship and low education levels" in addition to poor air quality, diabetes rates, adult smoking rates, food insecurity, obesity, and mental health issues, are contributing factors.

In 2024, 32% of the Louisiana population was on Medicaid, and 38% was low income. And, many of these people will be affected by what House Speaker Johnson has done. And, yet, over and over he has promised Louisianans that their Medicaid coverage will not be affected, because the problems are fraud, waste, and abuse." He's clearly lying. I wonder how they will react when they realize it.

Cutting Serivces will never balance the budget. The American people are carrying a triple tax burden: they must create demand to support an economy, provide funds for public assistance, and provide corporate subsidies for corporations that are making millions, or even billions of dollars. What would an alternative tax program look like? Heres an option that cuts taxes for 95% of Americans, promotes a stronger economy, and has corporations pay thier fair share. https://www.reddit.com/r/TaxCodeReform/comments/1iytva4/a_balanced_approach_to_federal_taxation_and/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

This is a script from Indivisible to call Republicans: I suggest you ask: Why are Senate Republicans are trying to ram through the Trump Tax Scam, a tax plan that sells out everyday Americans to help billionaires like Elon Musk get even richer? They’re using budget reconciliation—a wonky process that would allow them to pass legislation with only Republican votes—to ram through their top priorities: giving the ultra-wealthy trillions of dollars in tax breaks and expecting the rest of us to foot the bill.

They’re planning to slash funding to Medicaid, SNAP, early education programs, and countless other programs that working families rely on in order to give billionaires massive handouts. Hardworking, everyday Americans shouldn’t be paying more in taxes than Elon Musk, but under the Trump Tax Scam, they’re the ones that shoulder most of the burden.

_____________________________________________________________________________

We cannot just let Trump and the Republicans get away with gutting these vital programs. They want to fleece the American people so billionaires can buy another private jet or luxury yacht and they must be held accountable. You can use your own words when you make this call. Don't argue with anyone who answers the phone & tries to argue with you. You can ask them : Don't you have anyone in your family who depends on Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid or SNAP? These cuts will effect everyone.Hopefully they'll listen.

Cutting the employment of veterans and health care people in areas like the Bronx, where medical care is the main employer is doubly disastrous for the people. It is unconscionable.

We need to stop talking about president Musk. All of this is directed by the Felon. The cowardly Speaker Johnson, who assisted in the attempted coup using fake electors, supports president Musk's "cuts" because he knows the constituents of GOP Congressional members would be in an uproar and he would never have the votes.
