It's been a hard week. We send you into the weekend with a Contrarian care package to remind you that laughter, sweet indulgence, and taking comfort in our furry companions are all encouraged
Looks just a bit like my Wild Man, who I took in after my neighbor hit his close sibling. He was born in my back yard. I couldn’t home his mother. And he is part feral. But he sits on my bed at night as long as I don’t move my legs. And he has 6 other felines to gang up against me.
I’m going to have to delete this wonderful blog. There are too many posts I can’t keep up with them.
Like you, I could go on and on and on starting with Topsy when I was seven. My mother hated cats but knew I needed a pet. She got me black Topsy for my birthday. Uncle Tom's Cabin.
As a child, I only had garter snakes, frogs, turtles and a roster for my animal friends. But I once upon a time stopped to Pat a homeless kitty walking down my street and that one pat changed the course of my life. I now am associated with a shelter. And I have a terrible weakness for them today.
I love this post so much! The cartoon is hysterical (love the discussion questions), can’t wait to make those cookies, and Lio is an angel. In a week filled with the 🍊💩’s horribleness, including crossing out parts of the 14th amendment with a Sharpie, The contrarian is off to an amazing start! ❤️
Thank you for sharing Lio with us. Such a lovely and interesting kitty. I’m always amazed at the strong life source in cats. They seem to overcome and adapt to any challenge.
I am an artist living in San Francisco. My profound thanks to all—particularly Norm and Jen— who are making the Contrarian available to me and thousands others. I don't mean to drop too big a burden on your doorstep, but we will require your voices and those of other journalists to keep the spotlight on what is happening. And while you're at it keep those cookie recipes coming
Lio is absolutely adorable!

Lio! My ❤️. Cookie recipe looks awesome as well. A lighter Fri night drop from The Contrarian is welcomed. Thank you.
Cookies yes! Fascinated to see why my 2 am insomnia drink of peanut butter dissolved in a chicken cube with a teaspoon of turmeric actually works!

My cat Rumble is complete deaf and afraid of nothing. Special needs kitties ftw! 🩷
Love me some Lio! We should ALL aspire to be as brave and resilient as he. Definitely going to try baking those cookies. Thank you!
Lio looks like a little lion. Precious boy!
I’ll be making your cookies, for sure! And thanks for including an inspirational pet photo…my own two dogs keep me from political despair!
Enjoy!
Dogs are so loyal.
Lio is one handsome boi! I have a soft spot for smokies!
What a sweet, sweet boy. Love this so much. He is a little doll. Reminds me of my one eyed cat who lived to be 19. His name was Winkie.😸
Thank you for the smiles and care package. Pitch perfect. Looking forward to the cookies and by all means, hugs to Lio.
