Who needs espresso when you can wake up to the “fighting force” over at the Contrarian? Over just these few days I have learned a wealth about how the pushback works. Thanks Norm & Jen & Team from the bottom of our hearts.🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

I would like to see articles on why two lawsuits were dismissed. The one about the labor department and the other OPM firings. Both were said to lack standing and Bates for the OPM one said it wasn’t in his jurisdiction. How can labor unions representing thousands not have standing ? Would not the lawyers not know about jurisdiction or if the unions had standing. Please explain

I'm a Contrarian subscriber, and while I'm overwhelmed as many are by the Trump/Musk attempts to tear up the Constitution, I am grateful for Jen's and Norm's persistence in bringing the law to bear on the dictators. I follow the news closely. Norm, I admire your determination to bring light into the darkness. To watch the Musk act in the Oval must been excruciating! Thank you for your courage. Keep up the good fight! Congratulations on being added to Trump's s*** list!

I agree with Norm that the oval office picture says it all: Donald Trump and Musk's son were at the children's table (aka the Unresolute Desk), while Musk dominated the attention.

Lawrence O'Donnell had a great take on that moment: Musk was flaunting his power by dressing the way he did, standing while T was seated and sulking, and carrying his son -what's his name, oh, X - on his shoulders. It was a dominant moment and T looked pathetic. that said, as pathetic as he looked, this was not a passive moment. The real threat is Musk and his monetary influence. And where's the outrage about Musk's latest deal with the US Gov. for a huge order ($400m) of Teslas?

I appreciate your determined cheerful advocacy and news of progress is welcome. I would remind all of us that we are in for some brutal, extended battles that will determine the fate of our democracy. There will be difficult days ahead. This onslaught we are working to repulse has been in the making for nearly a half century. It will take each of us, deciding to persevere and support the people and organizations who are on the front of this fight. It was a long time in coming and defeating it won't be quick work.

All good to watch and learn, but the bad news is these lawsuits won’t stop a dictator. He’s going to do what he wants, judges be damned! Sad. But true.

Read Maria Stephan’s well researched book/ paper on why and how non violent civil resistance works!

We only need 3.5% of the population in the mass participation, resistance, effort, and the authoritarian government cannot prevail.

All tactics all nonviolent. All us owning our superpowers and taking action.

Yes, Patric, but then there are consequences for him if he chooses that path and they will, eventually, involve the use of force. He can't just bulldoze through the courts. There are consequences.

Hi Lark. Problem I see is the “force” is the Justice Dept, and I am thinking Pam Bondi will not enforce anything the POSOTUS doesn’t agree with.

Yes. There is a long road ahead. And the SCOTUS may overturn everything because... well, they will get more perks... and, gee, what is "The Constitution" anyway but a silly piece of paper....

An interactive map of the u.s.

Please create a website where users (or just admins) can share detailed, location-specific information on how 47 is negatively affecting their states, towns, and neighborhoods.

For example:

California could provide facts about the water release, explaining how it happened and why it has had severe economic and environmental consequences.

Kansas could document the tuberculosis outbreak, highlighting the impact of losing CDC oversight and response efforts.

This interactive map-based platform would make it easy for people to see how GOP policies are affecting their daily lives. Contributions could include:

Statistics (economic data, public health impacts, legislative changes)

Personal stories (how individuals and communities are being affected)

Legislative records (tracking what their representatives voted for)

By making these issues clear and accessible, the site could help inform voters and support Democratic candidates in upcoming elections.

The fact that Musk showed up underdressed was a power play. I am no expert on body language, but Trump’s body language was fairly obvious - he looked confused and annoyed. I don’t think he appreciated Musk’s son taking up space in his photo op. The fact that he never acknowledged the child was further evidence that he was pissed. Question - “was it bring your child to work day.”

I understand that Elon Musk had been under investigation by several agencies of the federal government and that the mass firing/buyout included the investigators such that the investigations are being dropped. Is this true? If so, how can this happen?

Let’s be clear. What Trump, his billionaires and his Project 2025 minions are doing is call Piracy. They’ve boarded the Ship (of State) and are now stealing the gold. It's time for the Supreme Court to wake up and save our democracy.

You are so right! It looked like Trump was a prop for elon musk’s presser. Trump has clearly been decompensating, we mustn’t forget that he has severe a severe form of mixed personality disorder: narcissistic and antisocial (a sociopath) disorders. He also appears to be experiencing cognitive decline. Musk is manipulating a pathetic puppet.

Thank you so very much for the hope and optimism as we gear up for citizen activism!
