The absurdity of CQ's firing was that he was Trump's pick to begin with. I read elsewhere (can't find it at the moment), Trump thought CQ had all the right qualifications for the job when he named him JCOS. (Trump also listed those qualifications when he named CQ.)
Now Trump fires him because he thinks CQ is a so-called "DEI" hire. If he is, then he was TRUMP'S DEI HIRE.
Is it really about DEI? Or is it about getting someone in that will do Trump's bidding with the US military? He doesn't want someone that will tell him no!
And our representatives and senators are AOL. If they don't show up soon and exert their Constitutional powers they are dooming this country to its demise and will go down in history as cowards without conscience, or for that matter without brains. We citizens are left to rise up and take these traitors down.
Say what you will about Andrew Cuomo- but during covid he held a daily briefing every day at the same time- and millions upon millions watched his informational and instructional Daily Briefing- Right now the Dems are scattered on their individual social media etc- trying to speak out- but it is scattershot- and I am suggesting that the Dems have a Daily Briefing with a statement of the latest things that T and M are doing - what the Dems - or anyone working against T are doing about it- and what we can do as citizens- Same time and same Place Daily -With the press invited each day- right now T is sucking all the air out of the room with the press fixated on the administration- I suggest that we have a place that is a counter balance-
A place where those in Congress can report in- as well as those who are being affected by the new policies and layoffs- Governors, mayors, and every day people- and people who voted for T who are now disenfranchised- I am trying to talk about this idea to as may people who will listen- Need a great producer to produce The Daily Briefing.
As a former military officer, I took my oath to protect the constitution very seriously. To me, the military is the last line of defense against a regime that encourages a parallel violent militia to threaten anyone who the cult leader identifies as an “enemy of the people”. In fact, it may come down to physical removal of this dire threat to our way of life and the military would be the only countervailing force to perform this task. Will they? If not, we are all screwed. And by “we” I mean not only Americans, but the world.
There it is. Not qualifications, not DEI, not anything but having a person in the position who will do what he’s told regardless of legality. Trump declares himself king and Secretary Hogs Breath sends in the top brass to lock down the country.
Well, this is fucking terrifying. Again. This moron will stop at nothing, absolutely nothing it seems, to create the illusion of his own strength. I am reduced to cursing his very existence and anyone who has ever fucking enabled him…or just sat by. I’m looking at you, Mitch. And Lindsay. And so many others. 😡🤬😡🤬😡
It is not about DEI. It is about control and power. We know the White House and the Cabinet are almost all not qualified for their positions and should have been hired by Fox & Friends instead. So it will, in this case, come down to our military personnel understanding that their loyalty is to country and Constitution.
Exactly. DJT has dangerously replaced the fundamental standard of loyalty to the country and the Constitution (the actual oath of office taken by each member of both the civilian (at least for now) military and each elected official as well as every president before him) to that of loyalty to him, DJT, personally, without so much as a peep of objection from Republicans at any level of government (unless retired) and only whimpers of protest from certain Democrats in Congress.
Trump's new nomination of Chief of Staff will require a waiver. Is the Senate required to approve such a waiver? Does anyone here know?
We need to flood our Senators' in-boxes. Perhaps they should seriously consider what happened to the Senators of ancient Rome who did not speak out against the emperors, who then casually killed them. Silence is not safety.
Agent Orange has no understanding of our military operations. He just likes grabbing headlines and being on TV. Will he be glad to be front page news when America's enemies (and we have a lot of them) attack us and we can't defend ourselves because our Dear Leader has effectively dissolved the DOD and he can't make any firm decision about what to do next?
I am an Arm brat and remember well my father's utter devotion to law and order as well as devotion to the United states and or Constitution. I am so glad he is not here to see the cesspool that Washington has become. For those military leaders of the old school, those who believe n honor and duty to country, how are they to respond to this mess?
Every dictator in history has moved early on to grab control of the military. Is Trump going to try a military coup? It certainly looks like it!
With a son of draft-age, I worry about what all of this means for him as well. If the military becomes so clearly devoted to upholding one man and not the Constitution, one can imagine that some fall-off in volunteer enlistment might occur. If force -depletion becomes significant and DJT desires to use that force at home, whether to pursue his mass-deportation scheme or against citizens he deems insufficiently loyal to himself, then instituting the draft seems to be the logical next step. If that happens, I can only imagine that we’ll see conscripts who are required to do an end-run around their own moral codes getting out of their service with serious PTSD issues.

Does any so-called "explanation" matter with Trump?
You know the old George W. Bush joke about knowing when he's lying?
In Trump's case, you know when Trump is lying because he exists, period. He knows no other state of being.
Ah, but Hegseth wrote that in his book, so it must be true. (Yes, my sarcasm is thick here.)
And Trump was wrong?
Makes me wonder how long Hegseth is going to last if he starts contradicting Trump...

As described in this commentary by Steven Pearlstein:

Good read, thanks.

This is deeply troubling. Relieving the senior JAGs also implies a sinister intention.
While Hegseth is fighting culture wars, our enemies are creeping up on us, taking advantage of a distracted and weakened military.

That started with the Supreme Court. And "when the castle burns, who cares about the stable?"
