How true. Unfortunately, the MAGAts are set in their ways and don’t want to hear the truth.

Very sad, but I don't think things will ever change for the better in this country.

My thanks to Dr. Faust who as an emergency room doctor cared enough about needless gun deaths of children and teenagers to lead this study. I'm glad that Dr. Faust and the team of researchers from major universities did not give in to the defeatism of this article - that red states and their politicians would be deaf to the pleas to help our children.

Dr. Faust, a doctor, did what he could do best - did a study on child deaths by guns and then publicized the study in forums such as The New York Times and The Contrarian.

The study that Dr. Faust produced is righteous and leads us forward. Bravo.

". . . defeatism . . .?"

How is over a decade of facts not predictive?

And the more information that becomes available from reliable sources, the more the NRA and their clueless followers fight like mad to counter it.

It just goes to show that there’s nothing you can do for the willfully ignorant. You just have to let them go and hope that their kids won’t be the next victims.

How sad to find out about these easily preventable deaths. And how stupid of those Repubs who make everything political and go against hard facts.

Alabama has the 4th highest gun violence rate of any state in the country. From 2012 to 2021 the gun violence rate rose to 54% compared to 39% nationally. 49% of gun related deaths are suicide and 47% are homicides in Alabama according to EveryStat.org.

No reason for me to dispute this study. Most often domestic violence 76% involves gun violence in Alabama.

Extremely lax gun laws. Concealed carry without a permit or a background check.

Children and Teens die more often from firearms in Alabama than from other causes.

No surprise to me whatsoever. I achieved an expert Marksman level while in ROTC decades ago. Taught marksmanship to my fellow cadets. Outshot my own family at the target range.

That said, while I respect the 2nd amendment's right to bear arms, I will never have a weapon in my home, for those reasons cited in the study. Too risky. Adults, as well, are more likely to have intruders use their own weapons on themselves. I'd rather take my chances with verbal dialog and my self-defense skills, as I have "talked down" more than a few patients with homicidal intent.
