We've got their back, here in DC. Bernie, AOC, and others fan out, and we'll hold down the fort here. I work right down the street from the unconstitutionally occupied White House, and will not cease calling it that, and I'm not going anywhere!!
Thoreau, I agree. I don’t always agree with her left leaning politics, but AOC has risen to the moment. She has become a true leader in a way other Democrats have not be able to. She is the future.
America needs to crack down on the tons of illegal activity that TDrump and MAA Republicans are engaged in, day after day after day. You cannot read the news without coming upon someone saying that this or that is simply illegal.
AOC is an icon of courage and decency. She gets barrels of death threats and still stands strong… which cannot be said of republicans in congress. They should be ashamed, if they understood the concept of shame.
Rep Jasmine Crockett is also doing some fine work on behalf of our democracy -- she's also someone to watch. And on the late night circuit, Stephen Colbert is also outstanding. But some of Colbert's stuff is subtle -- I'd long noticed that whenever he quotes from Truth Social, he always turns the company's logo upside down, and that turns out to be a reference to the Upside Down from "Stranger Things". If you look in the background, you see the growing vines and spores from that show. And for anyone who has watched that show, the comparison is a good one.
I would add a few more names to that list of people to watch for (in a positive way). Jared Moskowitz (FL), Jason Crow (CO), Maxwell Frost (FL), Dan Goldman (NY). Others?
Agreed, that they all need to get out of the DC bubble and start meeting and talking with people. Stop with the policy papers and start with connecting actual policies with how they affect people. Stop telling people that the FDA is important and start with connecting what actually do with how it keeps people safe. Take to the granular level.
So far NOT impressed with DNC, Senate or House leadership. What them to all prove me wrong.
Where the hell are all the other elected Democrats? Aside from Jasmine Crockett and Bernie Sanders I’m just hearing scattered squeaks and squawks from the House and those who are supposed to lead. And the simpering Senators seem to be selling us all out with their wishy washy BS. Are Dems too comfortable and beholden to corporate donors? Where is the Blue Broom sweeping the corruption out of DC? Where is the wall of opposition uniting us against the oligarchy? The D party better get its shit together and start loudly pushing back and representing the millions of people who really despise this regime. There is a lot to be fired up about.
AOC is a natural leader, and an impassioned speaker. And, she has already grown in the job. There are other Democrats, who may not be as aggressive or as well-known, but are excellent speakers (which, in my opinion, is rare in the Democratic party.) A few days ago, Jen interviewed Ritchie Torres, who represents the Bronx, which is the 15th district in New York, and the poorest district in the United States. He spoke about the importance of Medicaid to his constituents, and Republican's false narratives about it. As an aside, he is the first openly gay Afro-Latino in Congress.
I wonder who in Congress or the DNC, is aware of members' strengths, and promotes them as spokespeople on issues.
The short answer is, yes, Democrats are cowed by their donors, almost as much as by their own straight jacket rules of being "polite". Not all of them, of course. But far too many.
I want to thank the local Cleveland Plain Dealer for consistently providing honest news and opinions in Ohio where Republicans have dominated elections. I would like to see media of all types publish calls for demonstrations on a large scale in cities and suburbs. Up until now these events have only been announced on social media with a small audience.
AOC has become a formidable leader in the struggle to rescue Our Democracy. She has wisdom & courage. The youth of today would be wise to follow this STAR.
An excellent piece, the perfect description of an individual person who has surprised many (myself included) with her incredible intellect and perspective. Ms. Ocasio-Cortez is a force to be reckoned with and someone with a solid political future.
One of the best ideas I heard this week was for Democrat representatives and senators to hold townhall meetings in Red districts. Republicans are shying away from townhalls which creates a void for Democrats to fill. We should invite those like Bernie Sanders and AOC to speak in our communities.
AOC has been amazing and consistent since she was elected to the House.
She speaks truth to power and does not back down.
I would like to see her speak traveling across this country.
Bernie has been fighting the Oligarchs for years and no one listened.
Now he has overflow crowds in places like Nebraska and Iowa in the dead of winter.
Democrats need to leave DC and their safe districts to spread the message across America.
The people need them out there encouraging them. The people will show up.
An eloquent speaker. A huge heart. Intelligence and honesty...all characteristics our current PINO does not have.

TDrump needs to be legally hamstrung.

AOC is great - glad you featured her on the Contrarian.
Good reminder that we all have a DUTY to SHOW UP. Shared everywhere.
seems like the charge, publicly, is being led by AOC and Jimmie Kimmel

Seems that way sometimes. Thank God for each and every one. There are more.

Add Chris Murphy to the list. He's very vocal and very committed.

Hear hear! Brava to AOC!
(Other Dem electeds: take note.)
She draws so much hate because the other side cannot abide a strong woman.
Thank you for choosing AOC. She is the best.
What an imspiration she is.
My admiration for her grows daily.
