Trump's misogyny is always on full display. He didn't say that boys don't need more "action figures". Yet we shouldn't question why he needs a $400 million plane "gifted" from Qatar?

Also … Mother Jones today writes about the GOP plan to defund Planned Parenthood.

— And they want more women to produce more babies? ! More nerve than a toothache!

Pathetic to think of all the women voters who fell for his female voter pick-up lines of ‘CHERISHING’ and protecting them … “whether they like it or not!” Yes, that’s his proven MO, isn’t it?

“… women will be the first to feel the financial pain.”

— Yes, perhaps this is a major reason more women vote Dem vs Rep., esp this time around — they KNOW where the buck truly stops & don’t have the luxury of indulging in macho fantasies.

— And I wonder what the thought processes were of the young men enticed to vote Trump by Trump’s son, Barron, and Musk, online. Hatred, fear & machoism are potent emotions that Trump stokes & harness in his pursuit of absolute power.

— What are American women seeing in men & the motherhood on offer today? How much of their turnoff relates to Trumpian policies or the direction more American men seem to be facing as Trump adherents?

I went to the gyn doctor for an annual (it had been three years thanks to covid) and it cost almost $600 even though I was on Medicare. In other words it wasn’t covered. Yet, a man on Medicare can go to the internist or family doctor and get an exam where doc sticks his finger up the patient’s butt and checks his prostate gland and the whole day is covered. Yep, not fair. AND, it is not fair to the GYN doctor, the majority of them being women since people will not be able to afford an exam. I won’t be having another GYN exam. I’ve lived past my sell by date…I don’t need to waste money on a diagnosis that buys me years of agonizing therapy just to die during or after it is over. Live your life fully, now, please.

It’s not just Trump and his minions. They’re just continuing a Grand Tradition. The great majority of all men and probably most women in this country are either oblivious to the Pink Pricing Curse or simply don’t care. A sad commentary on male centrism and female willingness to be victims. And to think that to fix it, all we really have to do is Vote. SAD.

Won't the "Pink Tariffs Study Act" be a non-starter, in that it applies to treating women as a special class? Hard to believe it won't be torpedoed as "woke" or a "DEI initiative." I am not suggesting that the sponsors should give up in advance, but pointing to yet another way that the rhetoric from the Right confounds actual research and discussion.

Think about it. Women pay more for a haircut than men do they also pay more for clothes than men. Especially jeans. I solved that problem by buying guys jeans by shopping in the men’s/ young men’s department. That might not work very well if you’re more curvy but if you’re built straighter it can work and you can find smaller Levi’s jeans in the men’s department that fit 30 inch waist and even smaller. They are much cheaper than the women’s jeans and fit and look just as good. If they’re a bit loose I can fix it with a belt. The fabric used to make mens jeans is more durable less stretchy and look better after a wash and dry.

I have donated feminine hygiene products several times to our “cupboard” at the community college where I work. As well I as snacks, toothpaste, deodorant, soap and shampoo. The students make good use of it.

Thank you for pointing out the “pinkness” of tariff policies. I had not thought of tariffs in terms of gender bias before. But then hasn’t Trump removed “equity” from our national vocabulary?!?

I never heard of the pink tax before, but I always knew men’s items cost far less than ours.
