I saw on PBS NewHour last night that 20 million (yes million) people would not then be getting needed life saving medication for AIDS due to the funding freeze.
20 million could die from pure greed and ignorance.
Thank you. It turns out that I am unable to watch most of one of my favorite news shows, PBS NewsHour, now for fear of losing my mind. That is one of the reasons I subscribed to The Contrarian. I appreciate my news in numbers now, as you have provided. And excellent , if frightening, interviews like this one. Appreciate it!
Me too. I had to stop PBS because yelling at my own tv was crazy making. My husband watches now in the bedroom but can only stomach about half of it. I have been able to read.....or watch Utube of some parts (e.g. Caroline Kennedy reading aloud her letter to the Senate re her cousin Bobby and HHS).
I hear you (not the yelling, but the emotion, haha). I find that I can look forward to one of these Contrarian videos and get the same sane feeling that I used to get with PBS. For some reason, these videos don't make me crazy even though it seems that our country is going straight to hell. I'm grateful, and for now it might be true that there is some hope from the lawyers and the other people in government not afraid of FFOTUS34 but loyal to the Constitution. Lucky you with a husband respecting your feelings!
They are, but sadly whatever is in the Kool aide these days has the most crazy questions and nothing except dithering in the lede and story. The DJT fear factor has caused behaviors of reporting that are not good for our country as news reporters. Acosta being pushed is just insane.
We need a better messaging platform. I like Substack but concerned about the limited reach.
My thought is that the reason for the fund freezes is to hold the receivers of these funds hostage until they get rid of any semblance of DEI. The reason DJT admin gave for the freezes is so that a review and determination could be made to ensure the funds are following Trump's agenda. The only agenda they have so far is to rid organizations of their DEI policies as if that is all that matters.
In my opinion, this is the message that needs to be sent so that people see, this administration does not have competency to come up with a better plan to help the Americans. It's almost as if DEI trump's (no pun intended) grocery prices, affordable housing or anything else that is important for day to day survival.

20 million at the stroke of a pen.
It reminded me of Krugman's article titled:

I do not know how to link things here (or anywhere really).

Possibly a helpful link on what they did with a good info of the Law.

I know people want to know, “Where are the Dems”.
It is hard to follow the paper trail when looking for soundbites.
This 4 page document is worth reading, it’s fire.🔥

Yes, they have been doing real work and so they not have time for "soundbites" or grandstanding in the last 9 days.
Still, you'd think they could be able to spare ONE person to talk to the media.

Thanks a lot, I have just read it and share it in my ffacebook page.
Nice to have knowledgeable people in real time as we try to navigate this shipwreck.
Thanks I appreciate having this access to a good discussion from experts
Someone should ask if the funding pause applies to income tax refunds.
Thanks Jen and Jared, this was very helpful.

Thanks for listening/reading.
Please makes these interviews available to the Deaf with close captioning or transcripts!
There is a CC (closed caption) button at the bottom right hand of the screen.
To the left of the CC button, there's a transcript button option. I use it to read the interview instead of sitting through the video :)
Thank you both, good easy brief.
I had the privilege of copyediting both edition's of Jared Bernstein's "Crunch: Why Do I Feel So Squeezed." I always appreciate hearing from him!
