Dobbs was just the first step in making women second class citizens. As I commented on the other article on today's Contrarian:

"The fascist six on the "supreme" court must be extremely proud of themselves for allowing these kind of cases to happen. As I've said before: "christian values" my ass. Although I am an atheist, I don't believe any god would allow such inhumane cruelty."

The idea that a bunch of cells in a woman's uterus have more rights than the live woman who carries those cells in her body is mind-boggling.

Vacation season is upon us.

Might I reiterate something I posted previously when I suggested that ANY woman who is pregnant and planning to travel in the United States now needs to seriously consider if she would be safe if she travels to ANY of the states enacting draconian anti-abortion laws if she were to have a medical emergency related to her pregnancy.

For example, is a trip to Disney World worth risking your life if you were to experience a premature rupture of membranes or find the severe pain you are experiencing is due to an ectopic pregnancy? Is it worth risking hemorrhaging to death secondary to an incomplete miscarriage because the state prevents clinically recommended standards of care being implemented preventing ANY intervention as long as there is a fetal "heart beat" even when the gestation has not reached a stage of viability? Is visiting the Arch in St. Louis or Bourbon Street in New Orleans worth the risk? Is a visit to Mt. Rushmore worth risking your life? Is watching the Indy 500 in person worth the risk? Is visiting the Alamo worth the risk? Truth be told, would travel or visiting ANY tourist site in ANY of these states be worth the risk?

It is downright shameful and a searing indictment of how we distort reproductive "health care" that a woman now needs a map showing which states have these oppressive laws in order to safely plan a vacation or a residential move to avoid these states and the risks she would face should an emergency arise relating to her pregnancy.

My guess that the number of live births in the United States has probably dropped significantly since Dobbs. This is because first of all women are not getting the care they need before during or after pregnancy so the infant mortality rate has significantly increased. Second many women and couples have opted out of having children because of the crap the fascist party has forced on everyone including the denial of abortion, birth control and IVF. The mortality rate in women is far higher than it was because of the above mentioned factors. Women die during and after pregnancy within a year of giving birth to related complications.

Any statistical data that comes from an abortion ban state cannot be trusted at all and most likely contains cooked numbers. Large university medical centers on the other hand keep tabs on this data and even though it may only be a sampling of women it’s far more likely to be accurate. The state may lie like hell about this sort of thing but they are not fooling the medical community with their cherry picked bullshit as Jennifer Weiss-Wolf has indicated by Cat Cammack’s comments.

My women co-workers at a Texas state college refer to "suddenly becoming Jewish in the Third Reich." It's grim humor about needing any sort of reproductive care in the state. The rich--the top 10%--can afford that care for "their" women while cynically supporting white nationalist ayatollahs' dreams of absolute power.

We are paying in blood for the Christian heresy that eliminated women's health care in the old and new Confederate states. And remember, this is NOT "Biblical." It's a modern heresy, it's explicitly denied by the actual Books of Moses, and it's an unconstitutional, authoritarian establishment of state religion.

This isn't being done for babies, nor is it being done for Jesus. White supremacist leaders want more babies to fill the ranks of the military to fight off the people of Earth whom they see as non-white, pet-eating Others: "they's a'-comin' for Our White Womens!!"

Apologies if this is repeated, I sneezed and my comment disappeared.

I feel that republican politicians who pass abortion bans are domestic terrorists against women and girls. They are like the morality police in Iran. They are determined to have their way and they care not a whit about the fact that over 80% of citizens want the government to stay out of our business!! It's a sad and frightening time in America. Until republican politicians are stopped somehow, this will only get worse.
