This piece says so much in such an organized and understandable way, it should be shared widely and quickly. The fate of our democratic - republic is rapidly reaching a tipping point.

Trump is just reveling in his power. Playing. Much like a little boy thrills in demonstrating his omnipotence in destroying sand castles, snowmen, ant colonies. The thrill is in the power of destruction. He has no grand plan of beneficence for the American people. It’s ALL about me, Me, ME! “Wheeeee……!!!”

I like how points and actions are set out and briefly explained with exactly what is happening. But all this frightens me. And I still don't understand why our Congress doesn't put a stop to the destruction of our government and use their rightful powers.

The purpose of all this chaos is to destroy our government, our democracy, our constitution ... to hollow it out so it can't function and to jettison those who know how it should work for Americans and allies ... and would push back. This is so some form of billionaires can have power and wealth at the expense of everyone else. You are right that pushing back and saying "no" becomes much tougher as time goes on.

Thank you for this succinct, albeit depressing summary of the crisis thus far.

Certainly, as you point out with clarity and detail, democratic integrity is on the fast-track to slipping away and the shareholders better get together and busy to salvage it.

It seems though the real intent of the current regime is to take us at record-speed into authoritarianism--and viewed through that lens, it's well on its way to being a whopping success.

The silver lining might be that the scope and pace are affecting all stakeholders, some sooner than others to be sure. However, it's getting plainer to see that all hands need to be on-deck to stop the movement. Sadly, but thankfully, no one is immune. Hopefully, that's good news for the futures of democracy.

I would say we have been in the slow boil phase of autocracy since, well, forever. Our country and constitution were built on white male landowners running things. Hell, even our first president went home to his slave plantation on the Potomac just like our third president in idyllic VA. The family monarchies were established early on with the Adams family, at least they had somewhat of a moral compass. Then the rednecks (meant in the uncouth southern way and not the red bandana way) came along - I mean Jackson, like stand on chairs in the White House with your muddy boots if you could afford shoes.

Then there were quite a few unmemorables, unless you got assassinated or had to declare war or had a stroke and your wife ran the country except for # 16. The Roosevelts made sense until they didn’t or they died. Eleanor was kind of running a big part of the country too - shades of Edith, it takes a woman behind a man.

For a short time after 16, our country tried to be respectable but the South ruined it all again because they were and still are experts at it. WWII kind of cured it until Dixiecrats became Republicans. Presidents have remained largely corrupt since then - watergate, stupid wars, torture, Russian collusion, climate destruction, etc - except for JC (not that JC, Jimmy).

Now the throes of corruption have metastasized and taken deeper hold in so many areas of leadership in government. The orange turd is banishing the every day people, we the people, who keep our government functioning fairly and mostly efficiently.

Mitch McConnell is the longest serving despot of all times from a state that is being pummeled by climate change. I do not believe in God anymore but I might have to change that idea and know that a god is destroying a state because of Moscow Mitch.

I can’t wait until Scar a Lago is disheveled by a storm and I hope the orange turd and all his family are in residence plus a few thousand voters along with Ron desanctimonious.

No more whining…
