This is what trump's supporters voted for and frankly, I couldn't care less how much they suffer as a result of their stupid choices. The rest of us don't deserve this and we should be furious.

Mr. Nesbit, please send your article to every Senator along with this taxpayer question: WHY SHOULD WE PROVIDE TAX BREAKS TO THOSE EARNING OVER $400,000????? I can understand wanting to make budget cuts. I cannot understand tax breaks.

Can we talk about the way the bill enables Trump and others to avoid contempt charges and to ignore court orders? This is rarely reported on, and is not widely known.

As of this morning, the Republican provision in the bill trying to allow Trump and others to ignore court orders with impunity has been stripped out of the bill by the Senate Parliamentarian because this provision was not related to taxing and spending.

The Republicans plan to bypass the normal 60 votes required to pass a bill, in order to be certain they will have enough votes. But to pass a bill in the Senate with less than 60 votes, the bill involved must comply with the "Byrd Rule." That rule requires that all of the provisions in the bill must be related to taxing and spending.

The Republicans' "You can defy court orders if you're orange" provision clearly does not involve taxing and spending. It's just one of many evil provisions the Republicans have packed into this horrible bill in hopes of getting all of the things they couldn't pass when attempted as stand alone bills.

Republicans can still try to add it in, but they have 53 seats and Democrats have enough votes to block it.

Has anyone estimated how many rural hospitals and clinics will be forced to close?

As a contrary person in real life, I have to say that my experience with Medicaid sucked big time. I actually terminated it myself because I got damned sick and tired of all the promises made at a national level that my county couldn't fulfill locally. Rides to the doctor disappeared during the pandemic and have never been resumed--the contracted companies use Uber instead and Uber won't come to my area. At one point, the money we had been given to pay some of our monthly expenses was demanded back as if it was just sitting in the bank and not immediately used for survival. At times all service was rescinded because we live in a remote area and the program decided we should move back to the city if we wanted service. That drew howls of protest that appeared in newspapers and on TV, so workers who lived 70 miles away were recruited to come help with laundry and house cleaning--and they weren't paid mileage even if they were willing to do it after the first few trips. In an aborted attempt to fix all the problems, we were offered the option to manage the services ourselves but were then required to sit through days of small-business training and fill out constant paperwork so they could make sure we were doing it right. Washington has its collective head up its ass. Okay, reduce the program. But FIX OUR HEALTH CARE SYSTEM starting with what big pharma charges for medication to how it's mismanaged at the doctor's office. We don't expect entitlement. We expect fair and sensible treatment after all the years we worked and the money was deducted from every paycheck.

I understand it will primarily affect red states - yet they keep voting for the fascists or not voting at all. My sympathies are reaching their limits.

Cutting Medicaid alone is not enough to give billionaires a big tax break. Even if they completely eliminated Medicaid altogether it still wouldn’t be enough to give billionaires a massive tax cut. Medicare and Social Security would also have to be cut. Education and NIH grants to our most prestigious universities would also have to be cut. This is so the middle class can be completely stamped out and America can be run by authoritarian billionaires. Anyone with half a brain can figure this out. It is time to literally have a House cleaning in 2026 as well as a Senate cleaning.

No one should be surprised. The party formerly known as Republican has always openly stated it is for "small government" and low taxes. Anyone who has had their head out of their stinky parts should have known this was coming. The Trump Party is for the rape, pillage, and plunder of ordinary working Americans and their communities for the benefit of Vampire Capitalists. How many of the millions of semi-conscious American will stir from their apps?
