Hesgeth and Trump are both predators. They combat their insecurity and inadequacies by preying on women using physical violence, intimidation, and lies. Women are a threat to men like these, and women in the military are the culmination of everything they lack and fear. Intelligence, resolve, loyalty to country, complex training, and the will to do the job are the traits that military women encompass. Until we get leaders who actually recognize this, and are willing to make sure that women are included in the military ranks, our country will be sorely lacking in military strength.

As I read this, I thank you for your military service and I salute the diverse "package" of men and women, patriots all, who make our military stronger.

I hope you run for office again, because our country needs your voice. There are a lot of young women and girls who put you in the same category as Rosemary and Matice, and they deserve to see you front and center!

When I commanded a squadron in the Royal Canadian Air Force, some of the bravest and smartest of my subordinates were women. Hegseth never served in a senior position, has the intellect of an adolescent and is, quite frankly, a disgrace.

I strongly suspect that if he was able, Trump would repeal the 13th, 14th, 15th, and 19th Amendments. Indeed, I believe he would have felt right at home as a southern slaveowner in the old South. Tells you pretty much all anyone needs to know.

He would ‘repeal’ the entire Constitution. As he probably can’t do that, he will instead just ignore it until either the spineless, venal Congressional republicans or the spineless, venal fascists on SCOTUS stop him. Or until we do.

I appreciate that these wonderful role models helped you have success in the military. As a pastor, one day a now-grown-up member of my kids group at my first church shared with me that she would have been unlikely to listen to the call and become a pastor with having seen me at work and heard my sermons and worship leadership. DEI under siege is the govt. killing dreams. Thank you for your words.

When Amy ran for office her opponents denigrated and tried to marginalize her military service. It was disgraceful.

As a female and a 22-year retiree from the U.S. Army, this scares me so much! How far will they take this? Will they try to alter or erase my service? Will my pension be affected? There is so much damage they can do over the next few years.

Well said! You confirm my life's observation that the more inclusive and diverse a cohesive group is, the better prepared it is to prepare for the tasks at hand and the surprises to come ... wider and greater skillets, experience make that possible ... and I think retention rates rise as well, because satisfaction rises in working as part of an inclusive, diverse, capable team. It is an abomination to remove accomplished women or groups of color from our military history.
