That’s a gorgeous dessert and looks reminiscent of one you would find on the cover of Southern Living magazine! My mom’s first cousin was a pilot in Vietnam and he and his crew were shot down back in 1971 leaving a wife and three kids. He was posthumously awarded a Purple Heart Medal under the Obama administration. He now rests at Arlington National Cemetery.
Thank you for caring about and remembering to honor all those veterans who gave the highest price to serve our country. My late husband and our four sons all served and continue to serve in other ways today. I love cobblers and this one sounds delish so I'll have to try it. By the way, the French bread turned out out of this world! Thanks!
My husband was named after his youngest Uncle Jimmy. Uncle Jimmy died at Normandy, a member of the U.S. Army. I served with the U.S. Army Reserve proudly. I had the privilege of visiting the American cemetery at Normandy and stood at the "Wall of the Missing." His memory is eternal for all. Jim and Uncle Jimmy are both deceased; their souls among the stars. Our American Legion will place wreaths at three locations on Monday morning. We will march in the parade to display our flag and remember DEMOCRACY is not free.
Lovely recipe, but wonderful, poignant introduction.
Thank you so much.
