I love this article - reminds me of a time when there were elected officials who would go against their party for the sake of ethics and morality. We still have some Dems and Independents that do, but I'm damned if I can name one Republican.

Thank you for showing our history of conscientious legislators of the past. What an historic session !

Thank you.

I remember Cokie Roberts but sadly was too young and ignorant to appreciate her history. Her father, then her mother serving in Congress.

Feel like sending this article to Senator Tillis, my senator.

This article is about forgotten history. Doing the right thing means more than what people think. We need more Representatives and Senators like Boggs.

I am old enough to remember Hale and Lindy Boggs. Honorable people. If only we could see a few of their like today!

Well gerrymandering has helped a great deal and lying until believed has helped a lot. Some 80% of Americans want universal background checks. Some 59% of Americans believe the Big BS Bill will hurt the economy. Some 80% of Americans want Citizens United overturned. Yet, there's no movement by legislators to enact laws or add Amendments to the Constitution. The United States is ruled by a minority party.
