No one can really be surprised. A Felon as president who already was found to have provided Russians with classified information and stood with Putin in Helsinki, a Russian asset as DNI who knowingly spouted Russian talking points in the past, a White Christian Nationalist as Sec Def who talked the Felon into pardoning war criminals, and a GOP Senate voting to confirm all of them.
Let's hope that this is a serious enough infringement of national security that they don't get to walk. Jack Tiexera got removed from position and prison time. These people should get no less.
Well said. This is what we get with a government run by unqualified, stupid, clueless, uneducated people who don't even seem to understand the rudiments of electronic transmission. Ordinary citizens know better than to use chats for anything except communications such as where to meet for dinner.
In many cases, the cover-up is worse than the offense. In this case, they are equally as bad, and these are people who supposedly know what they're doing. It's patently clear that they do not. Using Signal may also have been an effort to keep the information out of federal and presidential records, though it's an unknown at this time. What we have here is a breach of national security that approaches or crosses the line of treason. At the very least, it endangers our service personnel in the affected area. Congress, please bear down on investigating these people and don't accept the prevarication, blame and lies that they're spewing.
Off topic: Less predictable, and deserving, I hope, of some serious coverage by The Contrarian: two major law firms are now fighting back against the machine.
Unlike Paul Weiss and, alas, Skadden Arp, both Jenner & Block and WilmerHale are indeed fighting back. Perkins Coie has already challenged the Mafia thugs of the Trump machine. Cooley LLP is joining WilmerHale in the fight.
Praise them, please, Ms. Rubin. Give them some air. They're doing what you wanted someone to do. Let the world in on the fact that even some powerful white shoe law firms are joining us in the resistance, for the simple reason that, like all of us, but unlike this Mafia government, they go by the constitution.
As someone who worked in the Intel Community for 32+ years, it is plainly obvious that there was classified information throughout the chat. The VP is supposed to travel with a secure phone, as is the DNI and the DCIA.
Sitting around at home and watching a basketball game or two while chatting on your private phone in Signal with senior US Government officials about air strikes in Yemen is ridiculous. And a crime.
Espionage Act = Treason = why aren’t these fools brought up on charges and/or already in jail for giving aid and comfort to our enemies and voiding their Constitutional oaths, in addition to questionable morals and ethics and unbelievable corruption and incompetence. Just blows my mind!!
With the Teflon orange felon, I am willing to bet nothing will come of this. Who is going to speak up? Magat republicons? Gutless Democratic leaders? It is almost laughable, if it wasn't so serious.
That not ONE of these people have resigned over this speaks volumes about their "integrity" & this administration's lack of it. If not over this, then what???
All this just smells of bravado on Hegseth's part, parading his "control" of the situation before colleagues. He is obviously insecure in his undeserved position. The flame and suchlike emojis have the aura of frat party braggadocio. These people are all showboat and no substance.

When do the heads start rolling? She asked hopefully, knowing the traitors would walk.

I agree with all that was in the store but it missed this parallel. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/national-security/dhs-staffer-faces-serious-punishment-accidentally-adding-reporter-grou-rcna198233

It’s as much about their character as it is about their competence. They all should be let go.

In 2025 we have the "bowling alone" version of the situation room.
This gross incompetence is SOP for this administration. If these matters weren't so serious we could all have a good laugh.
