Well, my friends, we are all on the receiving end of a bad Marvel comic-book character's nihilistic whims. I thought that the early pandemic was the most terrifying period of my life--indeed, I had never had a terrifying phase--but this is more terrifying. One wealthy man has our president on puppet strings, and he intends to take away our rights, our livelihoods, and our democracy.
Rep. Jamie Raskin doesn't seem to be sitting idle. His speaking presence at the D.C. demonstration was notable. It's early days, and I think that more legislators are going to find their voices, as the demonstrators across the country have. Many have had enough.
I still have friends in Maryland, and they think the same of him.
You also have Chris VanHollen in the Senate, another one to be proud of. When the Democrats regain the majority in that house, he'd make a far better majority leader that Chuck Schumer - more dynamic and engaged.
Chris is a real prize too and a real credit to our college (I'm a much earlier grad than he, however). I think Angela Alsobrooks will also work well with them.
But the problem no one has sussed in a decade is this: Trump, Musk, the christonationalists have had decades to work on their plans. As we're all know they have a comprehensive, detailed one now called Project 2025. Because they're ideological but often incompetent they don't always get the implementation of their plans correct but that doesn't bother them. Nor do lawsuits because their plan calls for just breaking stuff, expecting the lawsuits and dealing with those over time. But the damage will have been done already.
The Dems began by preaching about how they're all willing to work in a bi-partisan manner on some things. They began by touting how lovely it was we had a free and fair election. They began by some Dems trying to show "good faith" by voting for Trump's more "mainstream" nominees like Rubio. Big, big mistake.
Two weeks later and they're finally acting like an opposition party, finally acting like the house is on fire but look at the damage that's already been done. And who knows what damage has been done that no one is even aware of yet.
Given the $250,000,000,000 (billion) musk poured into the election, it was not free and fair. Of course, his ability to do that came from Citizens United.
Alas, being against the law doesn’t matter when the Administration and its supporters are operating *outside* the law. Where are the checks that should be throwing a wrench in what is being done?
As horrible as all of this is, P2025 was the warning that *should* have prompted the organization and establishment of the necessary barriers. But the alarm couldn’t be sounded loud enough to be taken seriously.
I’m fighting a battles against hopelessness here. It would be a huge help to see/hear that the cavalry has been mustered and put to work.
No, Congress should be insisting that FBI look into the matter. I know, Trump would tell them not to. But he would have to do exactly that, publicly. We are trying to create an overwhelming groundswell of the public here, and the more we make the point that all this is lawless, the better chance that the uninformed or misled will see what's going on.
I spoke with a woman today who said Musk's hacking of our data is not a big deal, hacks happen all the time. I was appalled. I have spoken to others who did not feel the Creature's theft of hundreds of documents was an issue.
I don’t think people have focused sufficiently on the idea this is in fact worse than 9/11. True, it doesn’t involved 20 Arab terrorists flying planes into buildings. But it involves an unknown number of outsiders under a big, powerful gang leader getting access to the physical controls of government and wreaking untold and unaccountable havoc. After 9/11 we spent trillions of dollars and thousands of lives to harden our country and systems against and enemy attack. Now we have voted the enemy into office, disabled the alarms, fired the guards, and opened the cockpit door for this era’s Bin Laden to walk right in and do his worst.
ALL of us are in this same airplane. Musky-Trump are at the controls of the locked cockpit and are flying us straight into that mountain ahead! (Why do they have parachutes on?)
"His( Musk's) wealth should not be able to buy a conflict of interest waiver."
Indeed not, but it seems to have bought him a president even though due to his foreign birth he couldn't be one. And what is a "Special Government Employee"? In my 76 years on this earth, I'd never heard that term before.
Please tell us: what organizations are acting quickly to challenge these and other abuses in court? Democracy Forward has gotten a restraining order on the OMB freeze, but I hope someone is bringing suit against Musk and his gang for their violations of law in breaking into the government database? I want to know who is fighting, so I know whom to support.
Please, can anyone explain what authority had those who stopped members of Congress from going in to the US Treasury to see what Musk was doing? They have the power of the purse, and they should be able to go in and see what Musk is doing at the Treasury with the money Congress has appropriated to pay the country's bills. Is he pocketing it? Is he paying the Starlink contracts first before the anticipated government shutdown next month? Talk about conflict of interest!!!
Well dear American friends, it looks as though Musk and his cronies are breaking more than just conflict of interest laws. They lack security clearances but are accessing classified data. They are shutting down federal agencies mandated by your Congress. All of this is illegal. Why have they not been arrested and thrown in jail? Send in the cops.
THis is Project 2025 in action , many years in the making . Billonaires, trump, musk , racism and white supremacy,, what a malignant combo. THey are throwing with heavy artillery and the dems with ????
Musk would have to be charged in a STATE court, because he would automatically be pardoned by Trump in a federal court. What we need is a cease and desist order.
And don’t ask me how. But judges might not be real happy with Musk and the Muskettes up to their elbows in Treasury Dept. computers, either.
So, where do we start? Congress, FBI, Federal Court. They have woven an intricate web (Project 2025) to undo our democratic-republic, Constitution and all. Now they are caught up in their own plots and sub-plots. We need to see that their own entanglement is publicly exposed, big time.
Musk, Trump and the whole criminal enterprise needs to be exposed for what it is, a cruel and corrupt fraud on the American people.
trump and elon will break the law again and again, either pretending ignorance or pushing the envelope, to see how far they can go. trump must have had conflicts of interest in his first term, and getting away with it, he will not even pay attention if someone points it out to him. elon having multi-billion contracts with the government might not care at all, as long as he can continue to get great deals that he is pushing for his companies. Both are lawless creatures and now they not only have a biased corrupt Supreme Court on their side, but an AG who in the first minutes after confirmation broke her oath. Shame on her, on them and the repubs who must all be on some drugs by now that they cannot see what is going on.
U.S. citizens have raised concerns about alleged unauthorized access to federal personnel, contracting, and payment systems, as detailed in ongoing litigation. The lawsuit Alliance for Retired Americans v. Department of the Treasury (Case No. 1:25-cv-00250, D.D.C.) alleges that non-authorized entities accessed Social Security and Treasury data without proper clearance under the Privacy Act (5 U.S.C. § 552a). These claims remain unproven and are subject to judicial review.
Hoping and fretting will not solve this atrocious situation. We need to take lawfully actions to protest in the nation's capital, every state capital, and every concentration of federal government agencies/facilities throughout the U.S. See the online movement dubbed #50501. The First Amendment permits peaceful assembly at federal facilities and state capitals, provided the organizers obtain required permits for groups >25 (36 C.F.R. § 7.96(g)(1)(ii)) and avoid blocking building entrances or roads (40 U.S.C. § 6135).
Other alternatives such as alleging theft involving federal benefits (18 U.S.C. § 641) and or filing claims in small claims court are difficult, individually time consuming, expensive, and in the end, unpractical and ineffective. I do not recommend pursuing these alternatives.
This statement is based on allegations contained in public court filings. Individuals should consult an attorney before taking legal action. The right to protest does not include trespassing or unlawful disruption.
In summary. I reiterate it takes action by everyone to prevent further damage to our ways of life, our pocketbooks, and our health for ourselves and our families.
The world's wealthiest man is taking away programs that affect the poorest . The convicted felon is selling Bibles. The Almighty saved him from being shot to death so that he could be in the Oval Office to reduce the price of eggs. Is it the same Almighty who is sennding the bird flu?

Please listen to this interview by Brian Tyler Cohen with Senator Brian Schatz. It helped lessen my fears. Congress is not sitting idly by.

I have just watched it, thanks. It helped lessen my fears also. We are out of power but not powerless“ Sen Schatz.
Thanks, hanging onto to read tomorrow. Trying to get to bed before midnight for once. (Not looking good, since it's 11:55 p.m.)
Gracias; will do!

At this point, to whom would Musk have to "explain" this conflict justifications? The Crimester in Chief?
No, Congress should be insisting that FBI look into the matter. I know, Trump would tell them not to. But he would have to do exactly that, publicly. When she finds out he has sold her personal information to some hackers, she may feel differently.

ALL of us are in this same airplane. Musky-Trump are at the controls of the locked cockpit and are flying us straight into that mountain ahead! (Why do they have parachutes on?)
I almost distrust the unknown outsiders more than the gang leader. No security clearance but accessing (saving?) untold data that should be protected.
Thank you. My thoughts better spoken.
Let the investigation begin.
When will Musk be arrested, tried, and jailed?
Never, friend, never.
Please tell us: what organizations are acting quickly to challenge these and other abuses in court? Democracy Forward has gotten a restraining order on the OMB freeze, but I hope someone is bringing suit against Musk and his gang for their violations of law in breaking into the government database? And just who will there be to prosecute these criminal violations? Pam Bondi is unlikely to look into the matter.
Bondi is going to be too busy investigating Trump's prosecutors.

So what? What about trump’s conflicts? Who do u think is going to prosecute him? Kash?

The corrupt Court set us up.
