As we see more and more Americans take to the streets to rally against the Trump-Musk regime, Jen Rubin interviews Maria Peralta about the strength of grassroots organizing.
It is urgent to get our online messaging right around the refusal to vote for short-term funding bill to share how the republicans will vote to allow an end to Social Security and othe programs already approved by Congress!!! (as an example)
Another Court Victory today as Judge William Alsup found the termination of probationary federal employees “ILLEGA”L because OPM & “Acting Director” Charles Ezell had NO authority to order it. Full Stop.
Judge Alsup orderd immediate reinstatement across many agencies:
VA, Agriculture, Interior Energy, Defense & U.S. Treasury!
Unless Senate Democrats stop this, it will go on and on. GOP Congressional member love what president Musk and the Felon are doing. GOP Congressional members know if they were required to vote for any of the cuts being made by DOGE, their constituents would be up in arms.
Being Canadian I'm afraid I cannot claim to understand the US political system.
Still, I cannot help but be astonished that- after having experienced Trump's ineptitude, undemocratic views and actions and his choice of utterly useless sycophants as heads of departments- Americans chose to subject their country and the rest of the world to this horrifying debacle of a government.
Trump's hero, Hitler, would be so proud! Are concentration camps and gas chambers next on Trump's agenda?
I would like to suggest that henceforth the term, 'Trump-Musk regime' no longer be used. More accurate- and possibly infuriating to Trump- would be the term, 'Musk-Trump regime'.
In fact, any time these two are mentioned together 'Musk' should always be mentioned first.
It may not be much but I believe it to be more accurate as Musk is clearly running 'the show' with Trump being his 'beard'. Not that Trump minds in the least as he craves attention and power (even if its merely 'lent' to him by Musk) and it keeps him from ever having to serve in prison for the crimes he has been convicted of.
Thank you. I look to The Contrarian for ideas of/inspiration for what to do. This interview is making me think of how to find my community where I can participate in collective action.
I know a lot about education, but am not now connected to a community that shares my interests—to be responsive to specific challenges students face due to poverty, for example, moving from school to school because their housing is unstable. Student mobility affects student outcomes. Homelessness and chronic absenteeism are also experiences that interrupt learning. So I will work on finding this community….
It was useful to provide web links for NEA and Federalist for those who want to do more. Although I understand that this item is focused on union power, I would also like to know what can be done if this Administration ignores court rulings. As of today I have not heard of USAid funds being released nor staff rehired.
We need a common rally call. Canada came up with “elbows up Canada” within days. It seems that we are floundering. Perhaps we can should adopt “elbows up” and so should the rest of the world. We also need to borrow Switzerland and Germany’s floats!

If only that ruling would be an end to it.
I fear they'll just keep 'keeping on' until they achieve their ends in some other way or under a 'Pro-Trump' judge.

I use: the Felon and president Musk.
How about 'President Musk' and 'The Felon':)
