We’re starting the week with some great news for your ears, and hopefully relief for your eyes. Due to requests from you, The Contrarian community, we will be limiting our daily emails to two—the perfect bookends to your reading, viewing, and listening schedule—while still publishing great, pro-democracy content throughout the day.
We are also thrilled to share that The Contrarian has joined forces with one of our favorite podcasts, “Talking Feds.”
Listen to the first podcast episode under The Contrarian umbrella here with host, executive producer, and founding Contrarian Harry Litman, in conversation with Contrarian contributor Jonathan Alter and our co-founders, Editor-in-Chief Jen Rubin and Publisher Norm Eisen. More details to come!
Today, we featured:
*Jen Rubin in conversation with former Congressman Adam Kinzinger, in which he shares his thoughts on Trump’s pardons and commutations of the roughly 1500 people involved in the violent insurrection on our nation’s Capitol, Pete Hegseth’s radically unqualified status, the erosion of a spine that he’s witnessed from Republicans in Congress, and how best to make it through the next four years.
*Asha Rangappa’s Tell Me, How Many Bitcoins Are in the Room With You Right Now?, which shares her experience with the mysterious world of cryptocurrency; trader Sam Bankman-Fried’s story and scheme; and a related, alarming executive edict from Trump about a world he doesn't understand.
*Olivia Julianna in conversation with California Senator Adam Schiff. Hear two fierce defenders of democracy discuss the threats of Trump's second term.
*Enjoy the recording of Jen Rubin LIVE with Alisyn Camerota
And just in case you missed these stunning pieces from this morning…
*Read Jen Rubin’s morning column from her interview with Governor Wes Moore, “This is not the healing that the country needed in this moment”
*Watch Jen Rubin’s extraordinary conversation with the iconic writer and legal expert, Sherrilyn Ifill
Let us know how you feel about the round-up as opposed to multiple emails per day. We’re listening!
Thank you for switching to the 2x daily email format! I love you to bits, but I've been feeling a bit email-bombed, and have been trouble keeping up. The new format is a great improvement, as it gathers all your completely wonderful content in one place.
Great to consolidate. Rather than more discussion of all the awful things Trump is doing, I want to hear more about what the Democrats are doing to be a true opposition party and what we can do other than wring our hands.
