Altho I’ve seen remarks elsewhere, there seems to be NO mention of the wonderful people in Mexico who DID come to Texas for life saving work, and that their President authorized more assistance. Never a word of thanks from Abbott etc., or FF47. Pretty pathetic.

ou have written compassionately and truthfully. We should herald these volunteers in Texas and other places who really show what it is like to "love their neighbors" even more than themselves. Those who dragged their feet on responses, those who have lied about their responses and received praise for not doing their jobs will have to live with their consciences. This was an inspiring story about what is best about America, thank you

Kristi Noem should never have to sign anything for FEMA to send search and rescue crews out to help folks in hardest hit areas. That’s the biggest bunch of bullshit I have ever heard. All that is is a power grab from the DHS secretary. Let these do gooder Republicans in charge of things and you can expect them to be less efficient and less competent. Their specialty.

Community is a wonderful thing and they always come through with local volunteers stepping in to help. However, they are not large enough in number and do not have the resources that FEMA had at its disposal when disasters hit. Trump and his wrecking crew have basically dismantled this agency like they have others, and the result will be inadequate responses to disasters, and the needless deaths that will occur because of this hapless decision. The GOP has made it very clear that they are not interested in making the lives of everyday Americans better. They simply do not care if scores of people die as long as they can keep their jobs and their wealth, unhindered by conscience and moral obligation.
