Let me just put in a word for entertainers who treat women like garbage and think they can make a comeback: not on my watch. And it is my watch. I love stand-up comedy and music, but when convinced that a man has harmed women because he can, I never give them my precious attention again. One would be Louis CK; another example would be the "great" Miles Davis, who battered his wives for years. Their bodies, my choice, assholes. I wish I lived in New York so I could vote against this entitled pig who thinks he can make a comeback.
This is all so typical: most men consider such charges as a badge of honor and continue voting for these tools, while women continue to be their own worst enemies by also continuing to vote for these sexual abusers. Cases in point: women voting in droves for the orange felon as well as for forced birthers (male and female).
My daughter who lives in Brooklyn and will have a vote, will decidedly NOT vote for Cuomo. However, her old mom (me) would be tempted.
I will be forever grateful to Cuomo for his televised conferences during the Covid crisis. At a time when T was doing his usual of creating chaos and promoting disinformation, Cuomo was one of the nation's most trusted sources of information about this terrifying Covid epidemic.
I've just refreshed my memory about the sexual harassment claims made against Cuomo. I know Cuomo is not Biden, but I remember that Biden almost got in trouble for putting his hand on women's backs, calling them sweetheart, giving them hugs. Cuomo was not being a grandfatherly Biden. Cuomo's off color comments, inappropriate public touching, and so on - were reported by only a handful of women out of thousands who worked with the governor every day. I don't think Cuomo was charged with making female staff feel that their employment was threatened if they didn't grant sexual favors.
I understand that other NY democrats turned against Cuomo and forced his resignation. Maybe they knew more than was in the public record.
But I will never forgive the Democratic Party for turning against Senator Al Frankel because of similar allegations of sexual harassment.
And perhaps my feeling about Senator Frankel color my approach to Governor Cuomo.
Hi Wendy--Thanks for reading and commenting. I would encourage you to look at the AG report, which you can read in full here. https://ag.ny.gov/sites/default/files/2021.08.03_nyag_-_investigative_report.pdf It includes accounts from 11 women, most of whom worked directly for Cuomo, or for the state, and had much to lose by coming forward.
New York City voters get to make this decision. Cuomo is, at this time, far ahead in the polls, even in a field, currently, of at least half a dozen candidates.
I looked up the two candidates this writer finds qualified for running New York City. If one considered this is a city that's much bigger than many European countries, it's a jaw dropping exercise.
Years ago, judges gave young offenders the option of joining the military rather than going to jail. Today, we seem to have a new option, electing the offender to public office. Modern politics, in which the usual broken promises, exaggeration, and distortion have given way to campaigns of aggressive and organized disinformation, seems like a natural career path for criminals.

I hope this bit of prose is a Contrarian growth pains event

Which two candidates do you find qualified?
I find both hair-raisingly inadequate.
I still don't know which two are being referred to. There are currently at least 6 candidates.
...Cuomo is running against two qualified women: city council speaker Adrienne Adams and state senator Jessica Ramos...
Cuomo just needs to bough out.
Thank you for this article! So important that there is a refocus on this right now and New Yorkers do all they can do defeat him.
But what does he mean when he says "he'll work with t-rump?

Andrew Cuomo reminds me of a radish, because if you eat one then every time you belch you are reminded of that fact!
I checked, his mother is still alive.
Nope
