After reading of opinion columnist Karen Attiah’s firing from the WaPo, I sent a letter to the editor outlining the many outrages there in recent months as an explanation for my cancellation of my longtime subscription to WaPo. I ended my letter with: DEMOCRACY IS DYING IN DARKNESS.

Thanks to The Contrarian and other sources of independent journalism I have somewhere to go.

All of you reading my comment will undoubtedly say to me: “What took you so long!!”

No, ‘the spirit moves us’ in different ways/times.

Plus they made exiting technically difficult … intentionally.

Sometimes I wanted to stay on for the remaining truth-tellers, but eventually the insults to one’s intelligence/decency became too much!

“First they came for Stephen Colbert, and Hollywood did not speak out“

FALSE — they awarded him with his first EMMY … the other night he kept popping the award out as a running gag!

And don’t be surprised if Colbert’s show makes a ‘surprise’ comeback,

— or better yet … if he goes into politics!

If a 2-bit reality TV presenter like Trump can ‘make it’ …

The theme of today and yesterday is and has been about freedom of speech. To important to ignore when it is central to democracy. Thanks Contrarians for letting us know how we can help.
