I hope to live long enough (sort of a long shot, being 80 this month) to see decency, integrity, ethics, morality, and just plain sanity return to the country. And thus to see many of evil actors of the Trump cadre, Noem, Miller to name the most obvious but with so many more, be charged with crimes and brought to justice.

I am 80 and have the same hope. I want all you have named as well as to outlive trump. I can die in peace if I know he is dead and gone. I want all his evil minions held accountable!

Oh, I still admire the wonders of the country, just not the catastrophe of the current government. We do need to be able to remember the difference.

"I hope to live long enough (sort of a long shot, being 80 this month) to see decency, integrity, ethics, morality, and just plain sanity return to the country."

As do most of us.

"And thus to see many of evil actors of the Trump cadre, Noem, Miller to name the most obvious but with so many more, be charged with crimes and brought to justice."

I would like to see those who deliberately hid Biden's mental decline and lied about it to the American public be charged with crimes and brought to justice. Or do you think those people should be given a pass?

Your assumption that Biden actually had a significant mental decline is just GOP slander. Try to stick to facts.

"Your assumption that Biden actually had a significant mental decline is just GOP slander."

Of course...that's why Biden's doctor invoked the Fifth Amendment on every question but his name and others have refused to come before Congress because there's nothing to hide, right? And all you need do is watch enough C-SPAN videos of Biden along with his debate performance in June '24.

More to the point, if Biden was really all there mentally then why remove him from the ticket? Why the "coup" from Obama, Pelosi, Schumer and the donors? It's not slander, Lisa, no matter how many times you say it.

Hal, that ship has long sailed! p47 is completely out of his mind and cannot stick to anything that really matters to the majority of the American people. There is a reason the TACO meme –Trump Always Chickens Out – is still floating around because he's surrounded by sycophants, is morally bankrupt, mentally ill from bad diet, lack of meaningful exercise (golfing with a cart does not qualify) and the no doubt the late stages of syphilis, note Al Capone’s decline and behavior.

Say what you will about Biden’s shortcomings, he was, and still is, a decent human being who has done more for this country in his career than the current occupant of the White House. p47’s first term was a disaster, this term is shaping up to be even worse and we still have 1213 days to go.

"Hal, that ship has long sailed!"

Only for the Dems and those like you who wish to hide the truth in perpetuity. There is no "statute of limitations" on that.

"There is a reason the TACO meme –Trump Always Chickens Out – is still floating around because..." blah blah blah ad infinitum.

Trump, for all his flaws (and there are many) still acts like a real estate developer/salesman, always trying to get the best deal as he sees it at the time. It's in his DNA. Yet despite those flaws more voters saw him as the better choice after four years of the Biden administration. As a result of losing Congress and the White House, those on the Left have lost their collective minds, fighting Trump no matter what he says or does. They riot/protest about anything and everything like a bunch a whiny little children who haven't gotten their way. In that regard they are no different from Trump.

It wasn't Trump that opened our southern border and allowed millions of unvetted illegals into the country all while telling us the border was secure. It wasn't Republicans who told us during the Biden administration that the economy was good but the average American wasn't smart enough to see it. It's not the Right who are vandalizing/burning vehicles, throwing rocks, rioting and otherwise impeding law enforcement. It is not the Trump administration that wants to keep criminal illegals in the country. That's all on the Left. And apparently you're good with all of it.

"Say what you will about Biden’s shortcomings, he was, and still is, a decent human being..."

I neither stated nor implied anything negative about Biden's decency. I opined about his mental decline and the fact that many people knew about it, turned a blind eye and lied to all of us about it. Biden was not mentally up to being President. If you don't recognize that then quite honestly you have your head so far up your butt that your brain is being deprived of much needed oxygen. Or worse, you know it's true and choose to ignore it like everyone else in this forum from Jen and Norm on down...simply a bunch of moral cowards.

"p47’s first term was a disaster, this term is shaping up to be even worse and we still have 1213 days to go."

You wouldn't be having all of these "problems" if the country had been run better during the previous administration and Biden wasn't mentally compromised. But that's what you wanted in 2020 and that's what we all got. The Dems have only themselves to blame for what is happening now, and not a single one of you in this forum will ever have the spine to admit it.

Contrarian is filling a badly needed vacuum for those of us who believe in 1960s style expansion of rights. You also have effectively replaced the WaPo for those of us who used to be lifelong readers. You and Bulwark, your conservative brethren, are remolding news distribution and democratic values in a way that will hopefully reverse the movement away from democracy. Indeed, democracy dies in the darkness.

And you joining the ACLU and People for an American Way in trying to restore checks and balances is so crucial.

In all the talk about Nobel and Pulitizers, you deserve the Congressional Medal of Honor for doing so much to keep the America we believe in alive .

So here’s the thing: the Fourteenth Amendment clearly states “all persons …” Any takers on a bet that the MAGAts might try to redefine who is meant by “person”? Clearly not anyone who isn’t white/Christian/straight …

Thank you, Contrarians!

What I’d personally like SCOTUS to answer is why they chose this particular time as their hill to die on with preliminary injunctions - over an issue of clear constitutional relevance, and during this particular extreme administration hell bent on ignoring court orders… including theirs.

Why not when the Biden administration appealed multiple decisions by, for example, that conservative Texas judge who was issuing PI’s right and left against women’s reproductive rights/autonomy and other matters of strong public importance and favor?

And majority SCOTUS complain that they [rightfully] have the lowest trust and approval rating of any SCOTUS in modern times. They really do love to insult our common sense intelligence, don’t they? Like they’re post-human Gods, while us citizenry are mere peons, unworthy of performing due diligent scrutiny and of their lawful, equitable consideration.

I say impeach SCOTUS. Chief Justice Roberts created a monster when he gave Trump immunity. Therefore, impeachment should be sought after. Include Alito and Thomas for impeachment.

It appears drumpf has threatened to revoke Rosie O'Donnell's citizenship because of her activism against him. We can only hope the judiciary slams down this monster president's notion of his unlimited power to trample on the Constitution and spit on his oath of office.

I subscribe to a number of Substacks, and I enjoy reading them all. But, only two, Contrarians and Dorie Greenspan use some of the funds received for good purposes. Contrarians for lawsuits and Dorie makes contributions to food-related charities. I'm certainly not making a judgment about all others, because I know that most need the funds to pay living expenses (current and future), and to pay for all the equipment, activities and people behind the scenes. Most Substacks also do not have huge numbers of subscribers. I also realize that I'm not privy to what other authors are doing with their time outside of Substack, or with their money. I'm just pointing out that I'm impressed that those who can afford to are also contributing to the greater good.

Congratulations on the success of this action, but for the disastrous decision of the Roberts Court, it would not have been necessary. The Court has put the safety and rights of those born here in jeopardy. It should not be necessary to sue to preserve our rights that were previously granted.
