Impressive peaceful displays of community and citizenship and moral strength this past weekend! Keep it going! The next get-together will be even better. WeThePeople can do this! We can keep our democratic republic and continue to work on making it a More Perfect Union.
I really enjoyed hearing this conversation by such knowledgeable and reputable people. Thank you!
Just one point from a still very outraged citizen of the NOT out of control, NOT in need of liberation by anyone--especially a bunch of incompetent, lying, and dangerously ignorant TACO administration clowns -- state of California.
Jonathan Alter said maybe the agents didn't know who Senator Padilla was when they arrested him at Kristi Noem's press conference. Very generous of Mr. Alter, but no excuse for those agents.
People, including the senator, have to be screened carefully just to get into that Federal building. In addition, Senator Padilla was being escorted through the halls and into the press conference by federal agents who knew who he was and allowed him to walk through the open door into the conference. The Senator also said he wore a jacket/coat that identified him as a Senator.
So from the facts above that were stated by Senator Padilla in a TV interview, along with his polite, clear announcement of his full name, title and wish to ask a question, that we can all hear in the tape of this shocking incident, plus the fact that he works on the Senate Committee whose job is oversight of Noem's Homeland Security Department, there is just no excuse of ignorance for that crude and shocking violence that was inflicted on a sitting senator from the state in which Noem's press conference was being held.
Senator Padilla also said that while Ms. Noem told the media that she had a very polite chat with him after the press conference, which made it sound like she was willing to entertain his questions, she did not answer any of them.
"An arrest occurs when police officers take a suspect into custody. An arrest is complete as soon as the suspect is no longer free to walk away from the arresting police officer, a moment that often comes well before the suspect actually arrives at a jail."

Noem instigating a coup against government of California. Plans to do same in other blue states.

Padilla was not arrested, just cuffed and then released…

It sure didn’t look like it was a pleasant experience.
