I am so glad that we wore and displayed the flag during No Kings. I have been so angry that our flag has been co-oped by MAGA.

And not just the flag. It's bugged me for years that the right thinks they are the only damned patriots!

I'm 64, send for as long as I can remember, my country's flag has always seemed right wing and repressive. I bought a bunch of small flags last week and brought them to our No Kings demonstration and donated a few. Time to reclaim it.

'my country's flag has always seemed right wing and repressive.' And you could not have been more right - it is the love for the flag that makes so many Americans accept crimes against humanity, time and time again (Vietnam 1-3 million killed, ..., Iraq 6-9 hundred thousand killed). Nationalism, or patriotism as called euphemistically, takes one slowly but surely to accept any crime committed by their country when dissent is not popular.

Yes, MAGA assaulted Capitol Police Officers with US Flags on January 6, 2021. MAGA co-opted the Flag but not for patriotic purposes.

Thank you so much for this. We truly are in the fight of our lives to save our democracy and our country from autocracy. I took part, along with my husband and numerous friends and relatives, in the No Kings Day protest in NYC, which began at Bryant Park and at ended at Madison Square Park. The crowd was exuberant despite the persistent rain, and stretched for more than 20 city blocks shoulder to shoulder without incident. Approximately 200,00 protesters were estimated to have taken part. We have to keep protesting peacefully against the current regime until all those in government positions respect our constitutional rights, their oaths of office and their commitment to the rule of law.

It was always a thrill and a privilege to stand and play the Star Spangled Banner at high school football games. It was a great privilege to be able to protest on No Kings Day. Honoring local veterans with a flag day celebration was even more a pleasure 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

This is why I come here. To get unfiltered news, great speakers and the chance to read the golden verbage of Ms Rubin. It keeps that flame inside of me burning, renewing my hope for this country and the diverse and ever changing Americans that choose to live in a democracy.
