As a once member of Jerry Falwell's "Moral Majority" in the 1980s, I am glad to see this work happening.

I saw the light early on that something was "off" about those who were using their religion to justify their conservative political ends, masquerading as "moral." Many were not so fortunate. Forty-five years later, the disgraceful embrace of Trump by the reactionary Christians that made up the "Moral Majority" reveals the movement for what it is - maximal power and control.

We can see it in the poster boy and Christian Nationalist speaker of the House. He was taken to the highest heights and shown all that could be his, and decided to make a deal with the devil. Shame on him. He makes the case for an object lesson on how not to be a loving and decent Christian.

And shame on all of those who insult Jesus by claiming to follow him, while embracing cruelty and promoting values antithetical to anything remotely Christ-like. Before our very eyes, we are witnessing the Jeffersonian observation that a marriage between the church and state, corrupts both.

Reverend Barber is the face of authentic Christianity, the kind that Jesus would recognize, not the fake kind practiced by so many in this country. He is a true moral leader.

I took my modern Church History class in seminary during the rise of the Moral Majority. We were taught and warned about organizations that wanted to be in charge in the US with their interp of Bible and morals as they dictated. They were likened to Hitler's use of the church in Germany. We extensively studied the resistance there by faithful Christians who opposed the encroaching cruelty and demand for loyalty. The Barmen Confession could be written today again, same problem, different dictator. I never thought that class would have such practical applications as it has had in 2025. Ir is a moral crisis, a loss of clarity for our compass. Thank you Dr Barber for your courageous stand. I will meet you when you come to Washington state! God bless.

All these good white "christians" are too dumb to know the difference between "pray" and "prey." That's why they have no problem preying on the most needy.

This is health insurance, NOT a welfare check. The work requirements are nuts.

They are convoluting the two deliberately.

People are not sitting home on Medicaid checks. They are disabled or very poor and the Medicaid is insurance paying docs and hospitals for medical services.

Reverend Barber makes much sense and clearly lets us know what we need to do to overcome the cruelty and ugliness of this current president and administration.

I just read the many words of admiration for Bishop Barber and his work. I have been a monthly donor for as long as the Poor People's Campaign/Repairers of the Breach has been in existence. As I age, it is harder for me to march and support campaigns physically as I did for years, but I support this work financially. I hope those of you who admire his work will do the same.

Rev Barber is such a blessing. We can only pray to overcome that “Moral Majority” (which they aren’t but are more vocal!). Such a good discussion; thank you.

I love the idea of putting a face on it. I'd like to find a way to put a face on the inhumanity of ICE incarcerations. Who are the disappeared in our own communities? How will our community be hurt by their absence? What service were they performing when they were abducted? How many are children? What did these human beings mean to their families? It's not enough to just say, 10 were taken from here, 20 from there, etc. They have names, loved ones, lives. I would like to see priests, rabis and e-moms marching for humanity.
