Oh for pete's sake, the Dems have TRIED to get the GOP to come to the table on immigration since Obama became known as the "Deporter in Chief" among Latinos and Biden actually put together a package with Republicans that Trump promptly killed. TODAY we need to agitate and insist that Trump be REMOVED pronto. He is a mentally incompetent person who is endangering the nation and individual Americans while grabbing all the loot he can get his grubby fingers on. 25th Amendment would be the easiest way to get the nation back on track. Tell Republicans no discussions on a new budget until they get Trump out.

Bingo. Came here to say the same thing. The Republicans don’t want a better immigration system. They want to keep its base in a state of permanent terror so they can finish the job of making Trump as 21st Century reboot of Henry VIII — . both king and head of the American Church.

I'd go further and say they used border control as a justification to fund their brown shirts who can easily go beyond "immigration enforcement" to terrorizing anyone who is an opponent of the regime. The FBI is no longer trusted and I can see operating in concert as the secret police.

Thank you!!! You and I are on the same page with this I’ve been screaming for weeks that the bloated demented lying criminal stinking up the White House needs to go now. He knows we don’t want a king, we’ve told him twice already. What we do want him to know is that we want his stinking ass gone, out of our lives forever. No more nibbling around at the edges, we demand he be removed. Demand it, before he blows up the world. This should be an easy one, he’s the only one we’ve ever had in the Oval Office who could be taken out via impeachment/conviction OR the 25th Amendment.

From Common Cause to me yesterday. The vote is today.

"Daniel, we just learned that the U.S. Senate could vote as soon as TOMORROW on reining in Trump’s unconstitutional and reckless military actions in Venezuela.

"I’m writing to you because your senators urgently need to hear from you today. Take action to tell Senator Rick Scott and Senator Ashley Moody – vote YES on S.J. Res. 98 to defend our lives, our Constitution, and our national interests."

And so I did.

+++++++++++++++++++++

S.J. Res. 98 is a joint resolution from the 119th Congress (2025-2026) that proposes to direct the President to remove U.S. Armed Forces from hostilities within or against Venezuela unless explicitly authorized by Congress.

Status and Details

Sponsor: Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA)

Introduced: December 3, 2025

Latest Action: The resolution was read twice in the Senate and referred to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on December 3, 2025.

Status: It currently has the status of "Introduced". It has not been passed into law.

Key Provisions

S.J. Res. 98 would require the President to end the use of U.S. Armed Forces in hostilities in Venezuela unless authorized by Congress through a declaration of war or specific authorization. The resolution notes this does not affect the U.S. ability to defend itself from attack. More details are available in the full text of the resolution and on Congress.gov. It's important to note that a different S.J. Res. 98 from the 118th Congress dealt with a different matter.

Trump was simply the vehicle they used to gain power. He’s probably dispensable now. I suspect they’d rather have Vance anyway—much easier to control.

In addition, the right wing has been working toward this for many, many decades. There were plenty of Nazi sympathizers and far-right extremists in the interwar period and into World War II. Rachel Maddow's ULTRA podcast covers this. The backlash has been building since the passage of civil rights and voting rights legislation in the mid-1960s. The Reagan administration played a crucial role in unleashing corporate money and hamstringing unions. The election of Obama in 2008 freaked them out. Jane Mayer's DARK MONEY is indispensable on this. Etc.

(This, by the way, is not true of Senators, although I doubt they actually pay attention to out-of-state contacts.) Haven't tried phoning, but I've heard that phone calls get screened out, also (have no idea if this is true). So you basically have to live close enough to their districts to be able to be a physical presence. Finding out who their donors are and contacting them might indeed be a viable alternative. Also, they have Facebook pages, which anyone can post on. Maybe the same is true for their X pages (I'm not on X).
