The WHCA could have made a strong statement by canceling this year's event and making a generous donation to the ACLU.

What does one expect between a WH filled with unfunny toadies and the mostly billionaire media? They might as well suspend this event until a normal person takes over the WH.

The press should boycott the dinner and the stupid WH press conferences! Why sit in a room and be lied to and insulted?

Eugene Daniel, prez of WHCA caved on Ruffin too. I sure hope it's not televised. Unlike other years I won't bother watching this 'on your knees peasants' ring kissing gang.

I am so sick of "strongly worded statements". I hope someone stands in and stands up for Amber Ruffin.

It’s time for some new traditions and new media in America.

Wish that everyone on the Contrarian would make their pieces available with an audio version. I drive for a living, just can't keep up with all the reading but love to listen. This would have been a good piece, I think...

Yes please! So much content, I can’t drop everything to read, but audio makes it so much more available.

And here I prefer reading! At least it's mix and match for now.

Also will NOT bother watching Eugene Daniels on MSNBC again! Maybe Amber was poor choice, but she's great on Have I Got News for You, CNN weekly snark show!

I agree with the statements about pausing the event until at least 2028. I also know that DJT wouldn’t attend the event unless he could pick every single guest to be sure they would all genuflect to him. But this year on Saturday, he will be attending Pope Francis’s funeral… if they allow him in.

It's time we acknowledged that the White House press corps and its association have outlived their usefulness. They've become defenders of access, not the First Amendment.

Morrow, Cronkite, Huntley, Brinkley, Reynolds, Sevareid, Mudd, Wallace, Safer, Roberts, Thomas… all rolling in their graves.

It's gross. But for the most part no one who supports democracy and wants to know what the government is really doing reads the articles by these "journalists".
