Unbelievable, but just 142 days into the orange felon's "rule," he has managed to change this country into a dictatorship with the complete backing of the American fascist party.

We need to withhold the paychecks of these fascist tools in both houses of Congress as long as all of them refuse to do their jobs.

My Senator Alex Padilla was tackled, knocked down, dragged out of Kristi Noem's press conference, and handcuffed by three men, (two in FBI uniforms), despite repeatedly identifying himself. His offense was raising his hand to ask Noem questions about her immigration practices in Los Angeles, which she wouldn't provide to the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability, of which Senator Padilla is a member. Noem must be investigated immediately.

It wasn't enough that a few months ago, Noem went to the most inhumane and savage prison, in El Salvador, where Trump sent Kilmar Abrego Garcia, and in which the prisoners have no legal rights and are stacked together so they can barely move. Despite the crimes they committed, it was painful to watch. And, yet Noem used the prisoners as fodder for her speech about "this is the kind of prison to which we will send violent criminals," even those without due process.

As awful as that was, Noem outdid herself with this unprecedented attack against a sitting senator, and then lied and said she was in danger, and he hadn't introduced himself. Few Republicans have criticized Noem's behavior, or the FBI's, and are blaming Senator Padilla.

In the past, I had criticized Senator Padilla because I felt that he, like other Congressional Democrats, was too polite in dealing with those Republican colleagues, whose only allegiance is to Trump, rather than to We the People, our Constitution, and our democracy. They obviously care more about supporting Trump's war against immigrants, his dystopian and traitorous legislative agenda and budget, his unqualified, unethical, and incompetent appointments to his Cabinet, and special appointments like Elon Musk, his criminality, his suppression of our rights, and his threats and legal actions against those who disagree with him. Oh, you wait until the uproar of the fascist party should a Democratic cabinet member do something like that to a fascist senator in the next Democratic administration. Miz Lindsey comes to mind as a good example.

Democrats, I hope you are taking notes of these fascist party and dictator playbooks. You didn't last time. As a matter of fact, you didn't learn anything at all. Shame on you.

Thanks Arkansas Blue! Our shared anger is calming!

You're welcome, SBwrites. I'm glad it's calming to you, because I'm going back and forth between absolute fury at these gutless wonder Democrats and telling myself I'm going to quit caring, because it's probably better for my health.

Jon Stewart said it best of all and I'm paraphrasing because I can't remember exactly: When Democrats run up against a rule or law, they say, "oh, sorry" and forget the whole thing. The fascist party knows no such restraints. When they run up against a rule or law, they say, well, we have to find a way around that."

With few exceptions, Democrats never seem to learn. Nancy would still make a better leader of house Democrats than Jeffries and Schumer is the biggest wuss after midget asshole Mike Johnson, who always has a goofy smile on his face when the orange felon is around.

It turns out I was just calm for a few minutes. Then I read about how all the Democrats were were so angry by what happened to Padilla, and saw a few of their videos. Of course, that’s the way it should have been.

But, then I wondered why they never express anger at all the crap Republicans do every day, which is destroying our country. And, so, what Jon Stewart said makes sense. On most days, I really can’t stand them. I can try to manage my furor, but they are the “folders, not the fighters.” And, their passivity sickens me.

And, when I saw some comments on YouTube about Newsom’s speech against Trump, and everyone felt so good about it and was so relieved, and I got angry again. For few days, I felt the same way, although he’s been a lousy governor. I was dying for someone positive to happen, and he gave the speech.

But, why can’t other Democrats give strong speeches? After all the years they’ve been in Congress, surely some of them must have realized they suck at public speaking, and should have gotten some training.

This is absolutely outrageous. Any senator or congressman of any party should have full rights to attend a press conference that pertains to DHS or any other government agency. Principled Republicans should be pissed 😡 about this.

Senator Padilla is on the Senate Judiciary Committee, and the ranking member of the Subcommittee on Immigration, Citizenship, and Border Safety. He has EVERY RIGHT to ask questions of Noem..... and given that the subcommittee almost certainly has meetings and other contacts with her, she DAMN WELL KNEW who he was.

I am very, very, very glad to read these comments/responses. Keep on hounding the GOP Congress which is complicit in everything their "leader" does.

Have ANY Republican Senators spoken out to condemn the abuse of a fellow Senator?

Lisa Murkowski objected and so did Representaive Stephen Lynch from MA who sits on the Oversight and Governmental Reform committee with Senator Padilla. Lily-livered Lindsey Graham said Senator Padilla got what he deserved. Speaker Mike Johnson said Senator Padilla should be censured. As of yesterday, the rest of Republicans—to my knowledge—remained mute, probably so they wouldn’t offend their sociopathic and cruel president.

Beyond appalling, and this happened while Noem was declaring that they had liberated LA. from it’s lawful elected government. This is an assault of all of us who believe in our democracy.

That is the part being buried. Dog killer Noem said Homeland Security was in LA to remove the elected officials. She should be arrested for attempting a coup.

"Platypus" is a much better slur for Secretary Gnome. Look at a picture of her ten years ago in the House. She actually looked normal.

What makes it even worse to me is that Mike Johnson said that Senator Padilla was about to "charge the secretary" and should be censured. We have all seen the video so we know for sure that Johnson is a liar. It's amazing that he can get up on his hind legs and say something so far from the truth in public!

"This is fascism. Fellow Democrats responded with immediate, appropriate rage. Those across the aisle remained silent"

Uh, no...it was a calculated political stunt and was handled as such. Go ahead and prattle on with the faux rage...

Do a quick check of the right-wing echo chamber and you find that magaloids think that the way Senator Padillo was treated was just wonderful. That's how far this nation has fallen.

Oh, i was hoping this might say "Democrats swiftly and fiercely denounce Israel's attack on Iran, a clear violation of international law and a major escalation."

But, no, not a single word anywhere in the Contrarian about this. Most Democrats and The Contrarian continue to ignore Israel's US-supported daily war crimes.

When will the 'moderates' and the 'centrist' start to understand that if you support violent oppression and villinization of subjugated people in other countries, that will eventually come home to the US?
