Norm Eisen was on Frontline, PBS, last night. It was impressive. In the face of the Trump machine of ridicule, intimidation and fear mongering, he was standing fierce and fighting the good fight. Norm was naming his heroes today. Jen and Norm are mine. Thank you for all you do.
Native here. Supporter of the Contrarian. Reminder. The original peoples of these homelands continue to be erased from the national narrative that relentlessly hammers on the theme of "nation of immigrants," which chooses to ignore the violence that plays a big role in the history of the settler nation. Our population has never recovered from the genocide that was carried out against our people but we are still here. Why risk the alienation of our people who are being attacked by the same administration? Are there not enough of us to matter? I don't get it. Every group - Black, Asian, LGBT, immigrants, Hispanic, disability, etc--is mentioned in your invaluable coverage of this apocalypse, but only once have I heard (a mere) reference to Native peoples and Nations. You're all lawyers Have you no knowledge or even awareness of federal Indian policy?, treaties?, case law? I'm not surprised. Law schools rarely hire specialists in Native law. Most are not aware of Johnson v McIntosh as the foundational decision in settler/state theft of Native homelands or possess a critical understanding of the Doctrine of Discovery. I will continue to support your work because it is important. I learn a lot here. Sometimes I am comforted by some insight. But do better. DEI has historically ignored Native people. But you can avoid perpetuating that harmful practice.
Can someone please tell me if the liberal justices refused to show up for a ruling on something where they know how the despicable 6 will vote, won't that stop the ruling? Doesn't it muck up the gears?
All the best people are in The Contrarians. Welcome Randi! The work you are doing is amazing as is the work of all those that Norm and Jen have introduced us to over these months. It gives us hope to know about all the Good Trouble that is going on every day by all of you and it makes me proud to know that my small contribution helps all of you in our fight. Let's all contribute what we can and keep this movement going. I can't wait to see all the Good Trouble across the country tomorrow. Onward and upward! This battle can be won!
Always Union: I had opportunity to work iron, carpentry, electrician...all on a temporary basis, i.e. taught school at OPS, worked iron in the summer (1993-98) then Carpenter's Local 444 then invited into IBEW Local 22. Heart problems made this short-lived...yet learned so much in the trades. And, of course, always in the teacher's union! Finally, a brief stint in NYC, joined SAG post tv-commercial.
Thank God that you three (and others) are fighting for us all, ALL of us. You are going to save our country, and I breathe and survive day-by-day hearing how you are defending our laws, and making headway to saving our country!

No tax on tips subsidizes employers even more. Tips should not be a significant part of anyone's income.

Thanks, I love this.
How can we create a conversation with Roberts so that the Supreme Court can openly communicate with the citizens of our country?
here I am to learn some more from Naples, Italy
Thank you so much for bringing us to Substack!
